When it comes to online multiplayer survival shooters, there are a host to choose from, some more difficult than others, but all have that one goal in mind, survive. Bohemia Interactive's DayZ is just one other example from this genre, carrying on the theme of outrunning or killing the undead. It's one of the better online zombie games for Xbox Game Pass, and for good reason. As a result, the game is often being updated, and a new patch has come which adds more content to keep things ticking over.

In a recent post on the official DayZ website, players will have had the next update rolled out to the game on all platforms, with the post saying that it's the last patch of the year. One of the additions to the game is a new bullpup assault rife, the AUR, which has two versions. There's also a new female survivor to help "increase the variety." On top of that, there's been a bug fix to characters, most notably some clipping issues when players wore balaclavas, as well as the option to wear a head torch and the player's choice of headwear at the same time.

As well as the new content, update 1.15 also brings with it a slight change to the way water and energy consumption and an adjustment to thresholds. Although one of the best survival games, DayZ is known for being quite difficult, with its more realistic eating and drinking mechanics. According to the website, the new patch will make it more difficult to "retain higher values" but will be "less impactful on lower values." This means that players will have a better idea of how to take care of their character, and also it will be more difficult to eat all food in one go.

Aside from the aforementioned problem with players clipping through headgear, the site doesn't mention any major bug fixes for DayZ, though it's likely there will be some. However, the post does say that those who own servers will be given additional tools to manage them, which will include ways of adjusting the weather, or adjusting gameplay features, without having to directly modify game files.

The studio behind DayZ is currently working on Icarus, a survival PvE title which takes cues from the likes of Skyrim, and is scheduled to come out on December 4. This doesn't necessary mean DayZ will cease to be or won't receive updates anymore, but it looks like the developer is keen to move onto new projects.

DayZ is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
