Bohemia Interactive released a new update to its zombie survival game DayZ today, adding a Revolver and the brand-new Deagle pistol; creating a flag pole for bases that refreshes nearby structures like fences; and applying quality of life improvements. Much like previous updates and a smaller DayZ hotfix released in July, Update 1.09 also addresses a number of bugs across PC and console versions.

There are over 30 fixes in the patch notes for Version 1.09, including the removal of exploits that let players glitch through collisions, visual problems like crafted items and fish floating above the ground, and running vehicles damaging players even if they were not moving. The DayZ update also improves textures for "several buildings and various props," and applies changes to the core experience like giving new characters the chance to spawn with damaged gear.

The "central economy setup" in Chernarus and Livonia has also been updated to ensure world loot stays active longer, and PC-specific patch notes address changes made to modding capabilities. DayZ has released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, even serving as one of Microsoft's Xbox Game pass titles in May 2020, but the original version on PC has thrived in-part thanks to player-driven mods.

Complications with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic mean the development team will not be able to push out five major updates this year like it promised in January, according to today's update post. However, there are still plans to release Update 1.10 in November, so fans of the game can look forward to more content on the way.

DayZ is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
