The action-adventure title Days Gone is already three years old. Though the parts of its community continues to be active, and clamors for a sequel called Days Gone 2, not much content and support has been added to the title post-launch. Now, Bend Studio has surprised fans with a minimal update for the PlayStation 4, with the patch supposedly fixing minor bugs and issues in the game.

Launched back in 2019, Bend Studio's IP was made available through the PS4 as a PlayStation exclusive. However, the developers did not produce a whole lot of post-launch content, save for an added Survival mode and extra in-game challenges. What's more, it was only in May 2021, a good two years after its exclusive PlayStation release, that Days Gone launched for the PC. Through its availability on the more accessible platform, Days Gone likely experienced a rekindling of popularity and player count, especially since it caters to gamers who are big fans of zombie survival titles.

With the latest Days Gone 1.80 update released last October 2021, many of the game's fans were likely surprised to see a download available if they have booted up their game recently. On Reddit, several community members have opened up threads to discuss what changes may have been brought out by the latest patch. However, since both Bend Studio and Sony have not released any official patch notes since the implementation of the update, everything in the subReddit threads can only be counted as fan speculation.

Some Days Gone fans pointed out that the new PS4 update may have something to do with the seasonal holidays, given that many titles like Pokemon Sword and Shield are implementing holiday events in-game. Players have been pointing out that the Christmas lights that can be found in-game were lit up after the update, but others canceled the theory out. They explained that those lights have always been lit up before the most recent 1.81 patch. Others say that the update just focuses on stability issues, while other new sites mention issue fixes with regards to raised or lifted blacks on specific kinds of screens or TVs.

Until the developers provide fans with official patch notes to address the latest update, Days Gone players will just have to keep guessing as to what the download was for. Given how Bend Studio is busy with a new IP, it may be a while before an official statement may be made by the devs. Hopefully news will be provided to the community soon, especially since the fans seem to be waiting for anything official to be announced for the video game.

Days Gone is available right now for PC and PS4.
