After PS4 exclusive Days Gone got a brand new gameplay demo at E3 2017, there was one question on everyone's lips: when will the game be released? Speculation had been ongoing about its release date but Sony had yet to confirm if the game was slated for next year or even further.

At PlayStation Experience 2017, Sony Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida was more than happy to talk about the game. Moreover, Yoshida finally confirmed that Days Gone will be released in 2018.

Additionally, Yoshida revealed that development on the game is progressing well. Days Gone is now playable the whole way through and developer Sony Bend is working on "tweaks" and is polishing the game to get it ready for release.

The Sony executive also explained that the game is rather big. Some confirmed Days Gone features include a weather system that makes Freakers stronger and can affect the protagonist's motorcycle. Sony Bend will have a lot of work on its hands ensuring that any bugs and issues aren't present in the final release.

Those looking forward to the action-packed horror game will be delighted with the release window confirmation. Between the weather system and the open-world, Days Gone has a lot of meat to it and some may have expected Sony Bend to hold the game back until 2019 to make sure that everything is in working order. A 2018 release date is sooner than expected, but of course, that is very good news for fans.

Days Gone is just one of several major PS4 exclusives confirmed to release in 2018 and so this is great news for PS4 owners in general. Other games scheduled for next year include Norse epic God of War and sci-fi thriller Detroit: Become Human. PS4 players will have plenty of choice of what to play.

Sony will also be hoping that these upcoming exclusives will be able to drive PS4 console sales up even more. The PS4 recently hit a new sales milestone but these three major titles could push the console to hit the next sales milestone as well.

Days Gone will be released in 2018 and is being developed as a PS4 exclusive.
