Days Gone tasks its players with traversing the open world on their trusty Drifter Bike, but even with reliable wheels, getting through the world can take some time. Thankfully, the game does have a fast travel function, albeit with some limitations. Here's how players can utilize it.

In order to use the fast travel functionality in Days Gone, players will first need to spend some time exploring the areas they want to travel to. Players can fast travel to nearly any marked location on their map once they've visited it. Initially, Days Gone's map is covered in fog, so players will still have to do a lot of exploring the old fashioned way, as is the case with many other open-world RPGs. Once a player has explored an area manually, they can fast travel to its areas of note by opening their map, hovering the cursor over the area they want to travel to, and selecting it with the Square button.

It's important to note that while fast travel does exist in Days Gone, there are still some considerations to take into account. Using the fast travel function will still burn through fuel, so players need to take note of how much gas it will take to fast travel to a location before departing. When selecting an area to fast travel to, the game will state exactly how much fuel the trip across Days Gone's huge map will use up, so players should pay close attention to this function.

In addition, the time of day and the amount of time it takes to get to the location in question is also extremely important. While the travel is nearly instantaneous on the player's side, time still passes in-game. As such, players can find themselves in dangerous territory when they arrive at their destination - say, surrounded by Freakers during nightfall - if they don't carefully consider travel time before committing to fast travel. Like fuel, the game will note how long it will take to get to a location before taking off.

While there's plenty to see in Days Gone's world, fast travel will make it considerably easier for players to revisit locations as they make their way through rural Oregon.

Days Gone is available now for the PlayStation 4.
