Completing side missions in Days Gone increases trust points, credits, and XP. Investing in all of these in-game systems will allow gamers to purchase superior weaponry and bike parts. Side missions additionally enable new skills and items to become obtained. Completing optional missions is definitely worthwhile, then, but some excellent ones can be easily missed.

10 Crazy Willie's Infestation (Infestation Extermination Missions)

Days Gone Locate Crazy Willie's Infestation Side Mission

Encountered early on in Days Gone, this side mission requires clearing out nests. It will only be triggered as Deacon approaches the gas station and Frontier Motel, which are located northwest of Copeland's Camp. In the gas station and trucks surrounding the gas station area, nests are tucked away carefully, ready to be set alight using Molotovs.

The rest of the nests are found inside the motel, situated just beyond the gas station. This mission is a great entry point into the game, as lighting up Swarmer nests makes for great practice using projectiles. Don't speed past it!

9 Tumblebug River Infestation (Infestation Extermination Missions)

Days Gone Locate Tumblebug River Infestation Side Mission

The Tumblebug River Infestation side mission is set near a frosty, isolated area slightly off the beaten path. The remote setting makes the Days Gone world feel even more apocalyptic, combined with the fiery backdrop. Locate it near the Cascade Lakes Railway Ambush Camp, slightly northeast of the remote Crate Lake area.

Locate Swarmer nests and use Molotovs to clear them out (or have some fun shooting gas canisters to detonate them and rain down fire). Doing this will flush Swarmers from their nests. As they lurch out violently, it's entertaining to use melee attacks as their nests burst into flames (there are some great melee skills to be unlocked in Days Gone).

8 A Score To Settle (Ripped Apart Missions)

Days Gone Locate A Score to Settle Side Mission

To trigger the A Score to Settle side mission, locate Tucker in Belknap, outside of the main building in the Hot Springs Camp. The player must be eagle-eyed to find the camp in the woodland area to the west. Tucker will direct Deacon to a Ripper group. Playing the Ripped Apart side missions allows players to either use stealthy attacks or jump in and blast their way through.

Whilst in the area of Belknap, there are also many collectibles to find dotted around, which can also be easily overlooked. This side mission will reward the player with 5,000 XP, so it's well worth completing.

7 Hear About a Ripper Camp? (Ripped Apart Missions)

Days Gone Locate Hear About A Ripper Camp Side Mission

The Hear About a Ripper Camp? side mission is located north of the Cascade Radio Tower Ambush Camp in the Cascade region (Near O’Leary Mountain). Completing the Ripped Apart side missions is made easier during night-time, as it's possible to sneak up on Rippers in the dark and take them down stealthily.

Night-time affects enemy visibility, and their flashlights will betray their locations. This will make the quest even more fun. There are plenty of broken walls and rocks to use as cover to carry out a sneaky mission here, in a similar style to The Last of Us.

6 Belknap Cave Ambush Camp (Ambush Camp Hunter Missions)

Days Gone Locate Belknap Caves Ambush Camp Side Mission

Encountered on the Ambush Camp Hunter Missions, the Belknap Cave Ambush Camp side mission can be easily missed as it's located in the depths of Belknap's mountains, above the Freaker caves. Players must clear the area and locate a map. This side mission allows players to use a scope with a special weapon to furtively take out enemies from afar (using one of Days Gone's great ranged weapons).

After clearing the ambush camp, investigate the bunker (through a hatch in the ground). The map that Deacon must obtain is inside the bunker. Players will be rewarded with 1,500XP for completing this task.

5 Nice And Bloody (Bounty Hunter Missions)

Days Gone Locate Nice And Bloody Side Mission

This side mission is part of the Bounty Hunter missions. To trigger it, find Tucker again in Hot Springs Camp, who is situated slightly out of the way in the woodland area. Deacon will be given a marker on the map for a camp located in East Belknap. The objective is to locate the bounty and take him down.

Climb the tower, eliminating all enemies including the target, and grab the tire iron as proof of the kill. Players will then return to Tucker for the 3,000 XP and +1550 trust rewards.

4 Horse Creek Ambush Camp (World's End Missions)

Days Gone Locate Horse Creek Ambush Camp Side Mission

For this side mission, head to the Cascade region (near a high voltage power pole) to clear out 14 Marauders and locate the underground bunker. Sneaking in is effective here, to avoid the entire group being alerted and attacking Deacon head-on. Using long grass as cover and crouching behind rocks is the safest way.

The area to traverse in this side mission is covered with places to hide, and this is something that enhances the survival horror element of Days Gone. An engrossing and tense side mission that needs to be played.

3 Chemult Community College Infestation (Infestation Extermination Missions)

Days Gone Locate Chemult Community College Infestation Side Mission

Another Infestation Extermination mission, but these quests are fun to beat. The Chemult Community College Infestation side mission will be triggered to the east of Highway 97. This mission is easily missed, as it can't be accessed until Deacon visits Sarah and completes a set of jobs beforehand. Once this area unlocks, visit it to clear out Swarmer nests.

Gamers must find the nests inside the western building, which are located inside a parked van, inside a warehouse, and under two bridges. The college area is one of many diverse backdrops to explore, an example of the quality of Days Gone environments: perhaps among some of the most atmospheric areas in post-apocalypse-themed gaming.

2 Drifters At Eden Hill (Marauder Camp Hunter Missions)

Days Gone Locate Drifters at Eden Hill Side Mission

The Drifters at Eden Hill quest is one of the Marauder Camp Hunter missions. The player will have to delve into the harsh alpine wilderness to locate this side mission, and it is only activated when Rikki is found at Iron Mike's Camp. Rikki instructs Deacon to rid of a group of Marauders situated in a camp area.

Deacon will be given a marker to follow. Once the destination has been reached, plow through all the enemies to complete the quest. Using the crossbow whilst crouching behind tree trunks is particularly effective here. Drifters at Eden Hill is absolutely worth tackling, as it rewards players with a generous 4,000 XP.

1 She Rode With Us (Chasing Leon Mission)

Days Gone Locate She Rode With Us Side Mission

Players will need to return to where the game began, as this side mission takes place at the Pioneer cemetery, northeast of the Cascade region.  Alverez's corpse is in front of the statue. Interacting with the ground near her corpse will trigger a brutal flashback scene of Leon killing her violently.

Simply toss a Molotov onto the body and the side mission is complete. The Freaks won't be able to dig at her remains now - but they are welcome to Leon's. This is a great side mission to complete, a very straightforward and quick way to achieve 2,000 XP.
