Before Days Gone was delayed into 2019, it was one of the most exciting PlayStation 4 exclusives of 2018. While many fans may have been worried about not seeing much until late this year, that no longer seems to be the case, as the first hour of the game has been released. This video gives fans a glimpse at bike gameplay, weather mechanics, zombie combat, survival, and more.

It is presented by creative director John Garvin, game director Jeff Ross, and Game Informer’s Ben Hanson. It’s worth mentioning that this is alpha gameplay of Days Goneso it doesn’t accurately meet the graphics that the game will have at launch. One of the most glaring issues involves the rough fade-to-black transition between cutscenes and gameplay, which is something that may be fixed by launch.

One of the most notable things revealed by the video is that building interiors are “99%” explorable, which many gamers may enjoy in this upcoming action-adventure game. What's more is that it doesn't have different difficulty settings. Additionally, the directors discussed the focus on the characters throughout the game. Check out the first hour of Days Gone below:

Previously, it was also revealed Days Gone would take about 30 hours to beat – a respectable length. With this video showcasing the first hour, it makes the remaining 29 hours of the story much more exciting, especially for those who are already interested in the game. It seems likely that even more will be shown of this game at E3 2018, but that remains to be seen.

One issue the game is facing from the onset is the overabundance of games in the zombie genre, but Garvin seems pretty confident that Days Gone will be unlike any other zombie game. While it will be utilizing familiar conventions and techniques for dealing with zombies, this first hour definitely shows the game stand apart from the genre as a whole.

Tell us, Ranters, what did you think of this first hour of Days Gone?
