There are many changes to society in a post-apocalyptic world. For example, in Days Gone there is no such thing as money; instead, the currency is called credits. There are various tasks and activities that Deacon St. John can complete while he rides through Oregon in order to earn credits.

The number of credits a player has in their inventory depends on the encampment, and credits aren't shared across encampments. This means that once the player sells an item at an encampment, the credits earned cannot be used anywhere else. Knowing how to farm credits quickly is an important part of Days Gone, especially given how important they are in the early game and when playing on a higher difficulty.

7 Choose Skills Wisely

Players earn skill points once they earn enough enough experience points to level up. They can then redeem these skill points for a skill of choice.

It is important to look through all of the unlockable skills in Days Gone, and think about each of their benefits before making a decision. A few skills are particularly helpful when it comes to farming credits. Consider these:

  • Green Thumb - Doubles the number of plants that the player picks up.
  • The Butcher - Increases the amount of meat that the player retrieves from animals.

These skills will double the number of credits earned by simply increasing how much meat and plants Deacon picks up from a single plant or animal, respectively.

6 Gather Plants

Players can sell plants at encampments for credits. The Green Thumb skill makes it worth Deacon's while by doubling the number of plants that he picks up. Additionally, there is another skill that facilitates plant gathering.

The Hawkeyed skill, once unlocked, will allow collectible plants to be displayed on the minimap. Since plants are easy to miss, this skill makes it much easier to gather them more often. Although plants are mostly used in crafting arrows and health and stamina potions, they can also be sold for a quick profit.

5 Hunt Wildlife

There are various animals available to hunt in Days Gone. The player can kill and collect meat from wolves, deer and bears. Just like plants, meat can be sold at encampments in exchange for camp credits. The Butcher skill makes hunting even more profitable since Deacon will be able to collect more meat from animals.

Unlocking the Executioner skills might also come in handy. Not only does it allow players to stealthily kill heavy enemies, but they will also be able to kill large animals after freeing themselves from their grasp. This particularly helpful when hunting bears. If they manage to grab Deacon, it's a quick way to turn the tables and take them down.

4 Clear Infestation Zones

While riding through the Freaker-riddled world of Days Gone, it is clear that there is an abundant amount of infestation zones. These refer to areas of the map in which Freakers have created their nests.

Clearing these areas allows the player to fast-travel through them (unless the game is set to Survival difficulty, which disables fast-traveling altogether). Not only this, but Deacon will usually find a large number of Freakers inside, especially if burnt during the day when they're resting inside. This is an easy and quick way to farm bounties.

3 Defeat Hordes

There is a total of 40 hordes in the game. Hordes come in different sizes, so they can range anywhere from a total of 25 to 500 Swarmers. Swarmers are the most common type of Freaker, and aren't particularly tough to take down unless they're gathered in groups. That aspect is exactly what makes a horde so challenging to defeat.

Since there are so many Swarmers in a horde, it's a great way to collect ears that Deacon can then exchange for credits at camps. But since it can be more difficult to pull off, it's best to come prepared with powerful weapons.

2 Complete Encampment Jobs

All of the camps will have several encampment jobs available for Deacon to take. For example, sometimes they'll ask him to deal with a marauder camp nearby, or track down a missing survivor from the camp. The tasks vary. Thankfully, the player isn't only rewarded with Trust, but with camp credits as well.

With one of the latest game updates, it became possible to reset encampment jobs. Thus, it is now easy for players to farm them for quick credits. The Reset Jobs option is available in the pause menu of the game.

1 Hunt Down Rarer Freakers

All Freaker ears will sell for a different prize. After all, the virus didn't only affect humans; there are all sorts of different infected animals as well.

Most of the Freakers in the world are Swarmers. Since they're quite common, their value isn't that high. However, other Freakers such Runners, Newts, Screamers, Breakers Ragers and Reachers are much more valuable due to their rarity. Not only this, but they tend to be a bit more challenging for Deacon to defeat. The Executioner skill is a great tool for stealthily taking them down, and being able to quickly kill them after escaping their grasp.
