Earlier this week, Insomniac Games revealed two brand-new Marvel Comics related PlayStation exclusive projects. One of them being the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 2 for the PS5, the other catching many fans by surprise, a Wolverine-focused video game. Now that Marvel's Wolverine has been announced, one of the next questions fans had was who will be the voice of the infamous X-Men member. One industry veteran voice actor, David Hayter, expressed his desire to be involved in the project.

For many fans, David Hayter is a legend as an actor and screenwriter. One of his most recognizable roles is the voice of Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series, well-known for his low, rough voice that captures the super-soldier's gruff appearance and experiences. As for his involvement with the X-Men, Hayter was the screenwriter of the first two films in the franchise, as well as making an acting credit as a Museum Cop in the first film. With these factors in mind, many fans, as well as Hayter himself, expressed the desire to see him take on the role of Logan.

Hayter's response was to a tweet that was asked shortly after Marvel's Wolverine was revealed at the PlayStation Showcase. It asked the fanbase if Wolverine should be voiced by Hayter, considering his history with being typecast with roles that utilize his baritone voice. Hayter admitted that the thought had crossed his mind after seeing the trailer, sharing the same desire that he'd love to be the voice of the fan-favorite X-Men member.

Upon seeing the tweet, many other fans shared the same thoughts, wanting to see this happen in this upcoming Wolverine game. Some joked that since both Hayter and Logan shared Canadian nationality, the casting choice would be absolutely perfect. Other jokes ensued that involved Metal Gear references crossing over with X-Men, due to Hayter's past involvement in both franchises.

Others expressed the opinion that if Hayter might not be casted, then the reins could be handed to go-to veteran Steve Blum, who has been the voice of Wolverine in many other Marvel properties. Fans should remember to keep their expectations in check however. The only thing shown regarding this Wolverine game have been screenshots and a short teaser trailer, devoid of any voice over. It's not known how much work has been done or if any casting calls for the game have been made, considering that Insomniac is still working on the upcoming 2023 Spider-Man 2.

Marvel's Wolverine is in development for PS5.
