If you've checked out this year's San Diego Comic Con schedule, as most of us have done whether we are attending or not, then you may have noticed a panel on Saturday for, "a brand new, Sci-Fi Action-RPG based on the DNA of Spore."

The hour long space, between 6pm and 7pm in Room 3, will be dedicated to Maxis Studios (The Sims) revealing their next title. Delivering the information will be the leads from the studio's development team: Thomas Vu, Paul Sottosanti and Lauren McHugh.

We don't know much about the title yet as this is going to be the first public reveal, we just know the details they've given in the description on the San Diego Comic Con website.

Various forums are tossing around rumors that the title will be called Darkspore, aptly named for an evil alien race that wants to overtake the galaxy. CinemaBlend did some research, and they discovered that Darkspore.com is owned by EA and the URL redirects to Spore.com.

It may also be noted that, earlier this year, EA did mention their plans of publishing a Spore title in the first quarter of 2011 for the PC.

Spore was released in 2008 for PC, and Spore: Origins made waves in the mobile market when it was released for the iPhone in 2009. The title's primary gameplay consists of building a microscopic organism into a complex, social and intelligent species with different phases and goals to accomplish one's the character is developed. That said, it will be interesting to see how the IP will transition into the Action-RPG sphere.
