Darksiders Genesis is an upcoming top-down action game similar to Diablo game, published by THQ Nordic and developed by Airship Syndicate. Darksiders Genesis will give players the opportunity to play as War or Strife in single or co-op mode, showcasing the events of the series before Lucifer starts to tamper with the balance of Hell and Heaven.

The release date for Darksiders Genesis has been announced, and luckily, both PC and Stadia players will be able to enjoy the hack-n-slash game earlier than other platforms. Console players, on the other hand, will have to wait two months before they can get access to the game. For the first time ever, fans of the series will be able to play a Darksiders game in co-op with two horsemen teaming up for the mayhem. This will also be the first time players get the opportunity to play as the gunslinging horseman, Strife.

Darksiders Genesis will be released on all popular consoles out there, which include Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, some games have had to cut back on resolution or frame rates and even content for the Switch version, but according to Airship Syndicate’s CEO Joe Madureira, Darksider Genesis will be “100% the same” on all consoles in terms of content. “And certainly, it is a different platform technically to work on then some of the others, so we’ll be making some concessions, but the team is working really hard right now to make sure that it’s as good as it can be, " he added. Madureira confirmed that the development team is targeting the “the highest possible” frame rate and resolution for the Switch version.

When Darksiders 2: Deathnitive Edition was released for Nintendo Switch, the developers had to make some concessions to get the game running as smoothly as possible. Especially, the handheld mode was littered with freezing bugs and it had to cut back on certain cutscene sounds. Docked mode got rid of these issues, but it still didn’t look as good as other powerful consoles. It remains to be seen what kind of concessions developers make to get Darkside Genesis running smoothly on Nintendo Switch. Still, so far, the company seems confident that the game will offer a similar experience across all platforms.

Darksiders Genesis launches on December 5 on Google Stadia and PC while the console version releases on February 14, 2020, for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One
