Darksiders Genesis is launching on PC and Stadia first on December 5, with console owners having to wait until February 14, 2020 to get their hands on the game. Those who are on the fence about Darksiders Genesis may want to know about how long the game takes to beat, and after having played through the story ourselves, we can confirm about how long it will take the average player to complete it.

Darksiders Genesis takes roughly 10 hours to beat, with 16 chapters for players to conquer as War and Strife. Some of the chapters are just boss fights, but the ones that are regular levels can sometimes be pretty lengthy. Furthermore, many of the levels have extra paths and the like that players can explore, and it's unlikely that players will have seen everything the story chapters have to offer by the time they reach the end credits.

In fact, there are some items that Darksiders Genesis players don't get until much later in the game that are required to complete some optional puzzles in the early levels. Combine this with plenty of collectibles to unlock, upgrades to earn, and a full-fledged Arena mode, and it's easy to see how some players may spend a lot more than just 10 hours with the Diablo-inspired game.

Something that will play a major role in how long it takes players to beat Darksiders Genesis is the difficulty level they select. Even on Normal mode, some of the bosses in the game are going to put up a serious fight and will require players take some time to grind for upgrades. Beating the game unlocks a special Apocalyptic difficulty that makes things even tougher, and so anyone looking to fully complete the game may be looking at 20-25 hours to do everything.

There's also the game's co-op functionality to take into account. In our Darksiders Genesis review, we pointed out how the game can be a blast when playing with a co-op partner, and we definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun new co-op experience.

Darksiders Genesis launches on December 5 for PC and Stadia, with a PS4, Switch, and Xbox One release to follow on February 14, 2020.
