Before the eyes of God, we will be judged. Death awaits us all. At least that's what THQ would like us to believe. But Death isn't awaiting us in this new live action trailer for Darksiders 2. No, Death is instead awaiting his chance to tear into some fierce looking baddies.

Can Death become mankind's savior? In a departure from the action and giant creatures presented in the cinematic Darksiders 2 trailer, this new live action trailer offers only a tease of the epic brutality Darksiders 2 is looking to convey. Despite this different approach of marketing and not showcasing gameplay, there is no doubt that THQ's efforts have done a great job at selling this game to those who loved the original and a teasing something grand for everyone else.

The above trailer - starring the familiar face of James Cosmo from Game of Thrones - is a shortened version of an uncut version that can be viewed on the official Facebook page of Darksiders. Those who wish to see the extended cut (and a longer sermon speech) must "Like" the fan page to unlock the trailer. The endings are the same in both trailers, which makes it a shame that they couldn't have extended it even further to show us the true action this trailer was setting up.

Since THQ delayed the release of Darksiders 2, it is time to celebrate the "Summer of Death" until the game's release this August.  Those who wish to snag a Darksiders 2 t-shirt can do so by pre-ordering the game and following a set of instructions on the Darksiders Facebook page - a page that's grown to almost 600,000 likes. Other prizes are said to be released and distributed throughout the "Summer of Death," but nothing has been officially announced as of yet.

Darksiders 2 releases August 14, 2012 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, and should be out by year’s end for the Wii U as a launch title.
