Dark Souls is an incredibly influential game that has changed the landscape of the industry and community in the last decade. Whether it be through the intense difficulty or rich lore, there's a lot to for Dark Souls fans to dig into. Dark Souls' popularity has persisted so that it continues to have an active modding community ten years after the game's launch. Whether it be by adding a bunch of new story content and mechanics to Dark Souls or new characters, there's a lot that fans can add with mods. And now one well-known modder known as InfernoPlus has completely overhauled the original game in an incredible way.

InfernoPlus has made mods for many different. Some of the games they've made mods for include Halo, Super Smash Bros., and of course, Dark Souls. His mod showcases include turning Halo 1 into Desert Bus, or even transforming Halo into a Mario Kart game, where players can race each other on kart racing maps and shooting each other while driving. InfernoPlus' latest showcase of "cursed" mods completely overhauls Dark Souls into a third-person shooter, complete with guns and PvP maps.

Fans adding guns to Dark Souls as a mod isn't an entirely new concept, where some modders transformed existing weapons into a skin that resembles other modern weapons. InfernoPlus however goes above and beyond with this weapon addition, taking several weapons from Halo, such as the Pistol and Needler, and adding them to the game.

If that wasn't enough, the guns themselves aren't just a model swap, but a completely new and separate weapon category in Dark Souls. This includes programming its own moveset, controls, and mechanics, which InfernoPlus states took a lot of work and coding. InfernoPlus also even programmed appropriate visual effects for each of these guns, such as the Needler having its needles stick to a surface and then detonate.

There are 13 guns added through this mod, which are hidden all over the world of Dark Souls, one on each map. The mod has them turned off by default if the player doesn't want to use them or get invaded by other players with guns. The other implementations of this mod includes various maps from other shooters being included, such as Death Island from Halo, or the Crossfire multiplayer map from Half-Life. This mod is free to download, through a link on InfernoPlus' video.

Dark Souls is available now on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
