The Dark Souls series, and it's many spinoffs, is known for one thing over anything else, its insane level of difficulty and skill cap. The franchise is so hard that there is an entire community based around showing off that they completed it while somehow making it harder.

This has also lead to people in a very similar community to make a lot of memes about other players needing to Git Gud at the game. Need summons to help defeat a boss? Git Gud. Need guides to find that weapon? Git Gud.

10 The Crossover Nobody Wants

If there is one thing that both Dark Souls and League of Legends has in common, it's an ability to make the people that play it angry to the point of punching their screens, but still, somehow keep them coming back for more. Seriously if we were going to make a list of the top rage games of the last ten or so years, these two would probably be fighting for the top spot. This is probably why you see the legendary MLG phrase in both game's community so much.

9 The Crossover Everyone Wants

Dark Souls is a game that introduced a few interesting mechanics in ways that most people probably never thought of or had seen before, this includes the games use of multiplayer. The game is pretty much a single-player game, but with the option to have people either invade your game or be called in to help out.

This lead to the creation of the GiantDad build which was basically the best one for PvP, stun locking everyone and being the bane of players everywhere.

8 Sorry M8

The world of gaming is no stranger to gatekeeping and elitism, gamers will literally talk down to anyone that is different from them. Despite it being prevalent in literally every part of gaming that exists, It is especially strong in the Dark Souls community, which seemingly judges players based on how much they hate each other, themselves, and how much punishment they can handle. If you need to call for help to beat the game "you're not gud enough" and probably never will be, thinks the player who hasn't showered in months.

7 Dark Souls Support Group

Aside from all the elitism that spawned in the community, Dark Souls is a very well made and even fun game, if you can get past the frustration that it breeds in every single one of its players. This leads to players looking anywhere for assistance, to the in-game summons, to YouTube videos with breakdowns and guides to help with bosses and find the best gear, to basically support groups to either talk about how much you suck, or to share memes about how other people suck.

6 How It Feels During Boss Fights

This is basically how literally every player feels when they are fighting a boss in any Dark Souls game or just any game in the Soulsborne franchise or genre. Seriously the player could have the biggest two-handed sword with enchantments and upgrades and land a perfect shot, but then all the player sees on the boss's health bar is the smallest amount damage.

Seriously the amount of damage that most bosses take is equivalent to the amount of download you have left on 99%.

5 Filthy Casul

Going back to the legendary GiantDad build for a minute. The people who run this build (are trash) seem like they really wish that there was some sort of MLG league for Dark Souls. Not just speedrunning which at this point seemingly every game has a somewhat small but strongly dedicated group that plays it, but no they want to see whose the best at Dark Souls. This really doesn't work because Dark Souls is completely build based to a certain degree and not skill-based, (accept it)

4 Scapegoat

Going back all the way to the years of 2008 to 2016 when the world was exploding in a new way seemingly every day. No matter what your political affiliations, the Thanks Obama meme took on a life of its own. Basically blaming all of your problems on something or someone that had nothing to do with it has been a terrible thing that humanity has done since the dawn of time and clearly the reason you died wasn't that you were bad, it's because of US policy.

3 Higher Power

The Dark Souls games are depression and we're not just talking about the gloomy world that the games are set in. Sure the world of Dark Souls is depressing, it's basically perpetually about to end in every game and the entire world has literally lost most of its humanity, but the really depressing part is just how much the world seems set on stopping you from saving it, repeatedly, forever. This is so bad that it had this player looking for some outside help.

2 Listen To Your Elders

Cranky Kong is probably one of the best old men in gaming and he's not even a man. Aside from just being an interesting character, there is also a ton of speculation on whether or not he's the Donkey Kong that you fought against in the original game, meaning he's actually the first Kong ever seen. Aside from this, Cranky was turned into a meme a few years back, because everything will eventually and his advice is pretty simple and straight forward. Git Gud.

1 Summary Of The Whole Series

This is basically the calling card of every Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro and every other Soulslike game in existence. Seriously this entire genre is basically the video game version of Linkin Park's "In The End." Try so hard, get so far and in the end, it doesn't matter, cause you died, Git Gud. That's part of the reason that we love the series though, the challenge and that satisfaction that you get from completing the game and the respect that you have gained from your peers because of it.
