Dark Souls 3 Player Beats Final Boss Using Dance Pad

By | 3 months ago

YouTuber, ATwerkinYoshi, plays Dark Souls 3 using only a dance pad as a controller, beating the game in 44 hours and 26 minutes and dying over 350 times.

Dark Souls 3 is a game that is known to be punishingly hard, but that doesn’t mean fans of the game haven’t already been doing everything they can to ramp up the game’s extreme difficulty. There was the player who beat the game without taking a single hit from the game’s enemies, the one who beat the game using only voice commands, and the guy who managed to defeat the Abyss Watchers using a dance pad.

Well YouTuber, ATwerkinYoshi, recently upped the ante for those players using a dance pad instead of a controller. The YouTuber recently posted a video of himself using a dance pad to defeat Dark Souls 3’s final boss, Soul of Cinder. Equipped with a Heavy Dark Sword and the Yhorm Greatshield, it took ATwerkinYoshi 44 hours and 26 minutes to complete the game, suffering 364 deaths in the process.

The YouTuber also claims that the hardest boss to beat with the dance pad was the Dancer of Boreal Valley, while the easiest was Yhorm the Giant. While ATwerkinYoshi has said that he is going to go back to playing Dark Souls 3 with a regular gamepad for a while, he did say that his next challenge will be beating the game on Donkey Konga bongos.

Playing games on a dance pad is nothing new for ATwerkinYoshi, a quick glance at the YouTuber’s page reveals a multitude of games he’s played with the dance pad including, Super Smash Bros. Melee, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Kingdom Hearts 2. Players beating a game in creative or more challenging ways isn’t isolated to just Dark Souls 3, games such as Fallout 4, Doom, and The Division have also recently become popular for speed and challenge runs.

While ATwerkinYoshi’s feat (feet?) is certainly impressive, it would be interesting to know if it was more difficult than the player who beat the entire game using his toes to manipulate his gamepad or the player who managed to beat the entire game without blocking, rolling, parrying, or leveling up once.  Whatever the answer, it appears that the trend of challenge runs in popular games is here to stay, with the challenges getting more and more crazy and difficult.

What challenge conditions should Dark Souls 3 players employ to amp up the difficulty?

Dark Souls 3 is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
