FromSoftware's Dark Souls games are defined by their high-level of difficulty and impressive boss battles. This was apparent from the start with the original Dark Souls, a relentless game that has players battle it out with a wide-range of overwhelmingly powerful foes. The Dark Souls games are hard enough when playing them using a standard controller, but some players have decided to up the challenge further by using more unconventional controls.

There are those that have defeated Dark Souls series bosses using bananas, but now a player has beaten a boss using singing controls. Reddit user tonitanuki recently uploaded a clip of themselves defeating the Asylum Demon from the first Dark Souls game using singing controls, and while the Asylum Demon is the first major boss in the game, it's still a rather incredible feat.

For those that haven't played Dark Souls for awhile, the Asylum Demon is encountered in the Undead Asylum, the starting area of the game. It's meant to serve as an introduction to the high-intensity boss fights that players will encounter throughout their adventure, giving them a taste of the tough challenges that await them. But even though it's the first major boss in the game, the Asylum Demon is no push-over, and defeating it with singing controls is very impressive.

In the video, fans can see tonitanuki rolling out of the way of attacks, slicing at the Asylum Demon, and even healing with their Estus Flask, all while using their voice. Commenters on the post were impressed by the feat, with one requesting that tonitanuki do a full playthrough of the game using only singing controls. Tonitanuki said that they may make an attempt at that some point down the line, but that "It's complicated as is using these controls to make it to the boss room."

Besides singing controls and using bananas as controllers, FromSoftware fans have used other unique control inputs to play the studio's games. Dark Souls players have used Dance Dance Revolution pads to play through the games, and others have used Guitar Hero controllers. In fact, Twitch streamer MezzPlays even managed to beat Dark Souls 3 with a Guitar Hero controller without being hit a single time.

Dark Souls fans will undoubtedly continue to come up with unique ways to play the games, making the already ultra-challenging titles that much more difficult. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if tonitanuki manages to beat more Dark Souls bosses using the singing controls.

Dark Souls Remastered is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
