Since it was announced earlier this year, Xbox has enhanced tons of games with its FPS Boost feature on Xbox Series X. Back in May it upped the frame rates of over 70 games, including the likes of Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection, Star Wars Battlefront 2, Titanfall 2, Fallout 4, Alien Isolation, Far Cry 5, and many more.

Today, Xbox added yet another name to the growing list of titles featuring FPS Boost, with Dark Souls 3 now officially part of the lineup. FromSoftware's acclaimed fantasy title can now be played at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X|S, allowing players to navigate Lothric and be crushed by its unwelcoming inhabitants alongside much smoother frame rates.

Considering Dark Souls has always been a series based on precise combat and reading enemy animations, the jump from Dark Souls 3's original 30 FPS to the newly added 60 FPS is sure to be welcomed by the fanbase. It can be downloaded via a new update for Xbox Series X|S players, with Microsoft noting over on Twitter that users should reboot their console once it downloads to get the most out of the FPS Boost addition.

For those considering jumping into the game for the first time, Dark Souls 3 once again tasks players with exploring a hostile world filled with challenging bosses, unsettling enemies, and plenty of cryptic NPCs to meet. This time around, they'll embark upon a quest through the Kingdom of Lothric, with the objective of rekindling the First Flame. Dark Souls 3 rounded out the story established in the first two Dark Souls titles, offering plenty of agonizingly tough new bosses, as well as fresh environments, weapons, and enemies. It was acclaimed upon release, with critics celebrating its compelling combat, brutal difficulty, and ominous world.

Running through the game at 60 FPS will seemingly be good practice for FromSoftware's next AAA fantasy romp, with Elden Ring slated to hit PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X in January 2022. The long-awaited open-world action game's most recent trailer caused quite a stir upon release, showing off a giant world filled with ancient monsters, grandiose boss fights, and plenty of striking scenery. The game was made in collaboration with legendary Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin, who recently revealed he worked on the game's story several years ago. It looks to be a expansion on the ideas of FromSoftware's previous games, with Hidetaka Miyazaki calling it an "evolution" of the Dark Souls series.

Dark Souls 3 is out now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
