Say goodbye to the Age of Fire. From Software and publisher Bandai Namco will release the final downloadable content for Dark Souls 3 next week, March 28. The Ringed City will be bigger than the game's first piece of DLC, and will contain new enemies, equipment, story, and areas to explore. Additionally, the expansion will add more PvP maps for those who like to roll around, stabbing at other players.

In honor of the new content, a launch trailer has been released to preview all of the darkly beautiful mayhem players can expect to forge through before reaching the expansion's climax.

The final Dark Souls 3 trailer begins, as they often do, with some vague story narration before delving into new material. The last half shows off some of the new spells, weapons, and creatures before finishing strong with a glimpse of a giant, hulking dragon that may be the expansion's big bad.

For an even closer look at its gorgeously grotesque visuals, take a peek at some of the excellent screenshots from the DLC that were recently released. Included is a more-detailed look of the dragon previewed in the launch trailer, which is even more intimidating in high-res.

While there is still a week to go, the Dragon Ruins and Grand Roof PvP arenas are available now for those who own the Ashes of Ariandel DLC or the game's Season Pass. If players own neither, opting just for The Ringed City DLC, then this content will be available next week when the expansion releases. Both arenas are part of update 1.1, which must be downloaded first.

New areas for PvP aren't the only thing included in the update. Taking a gander at The Ringed City patch notes shows it also includes numerous fixes and alterations. The PlayStation 4 Pro got a boost to frame rate, daggers and curved greatswords now hit harder, and heavy armor provides greater defense, to name a few. This is in addition to various bugs finally being squished.

The Ringed City looks to be a grand send-off to one of gaming's most imaginative and notoriously difficult series. While there may not be another Dark Souls game after this one, its spirit will live on through its playerbase; such as one fan who decided to play through and beat the game with Donkey Kong bongos just to change things up. Now that's love.

So long, Age of Fire, and thanks for all the valuable lessons in trial and error. See you in our nightmares.

Dark Souls 3 is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The Ringed City, the second and final DLC for Dark Souls 3, launches on March 28, 2017.
