Supermassive Games found a great deal of success with Until Dawn, whose legacy is carried on in The Dark Pictures Anthology, a series of horror games with different stories and characters that all feature Until Dawn-style gameplay. The second game in the series, The Dark Pictures: Little Hope, has received its most-revealing trailer to date, letting horror game fans know exactly what they can expect when it releases later this summer.

As teased by previous Dark Pictures: Little Hope trailers, the game will focus on a small town called Little Hope. However, the twist is that the game will have both a modern day narrative as well as a story set in the past, where the town was grappling with hysteria over supposed witchcraft. It's clear that the atrocities that occurred in the past will play a direct role in what's going on in the modern day setting, and it will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Like The Dark Pictures: Man of MedanLittle Hope will put the fate of various characters directly into the hands of players. Choices made will impact relationships between characters, shift the narrative, and potentially even lead to some untimely deaths.

As far as threats go, this trailer seems to indicate that The Dark Pictures: Little Hope players will have to contend with a monster of some kind, as well as some hostile human characters. A scene is shown with a house catching on fire, and so escaping that situation will likely be in the cards as well.

For the most part, The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is keeping the finer details under wraps. This makes sense, as part of the appeal of Supermassive's horror games is not just subjecting oneself to jump scares, but unraveling the mystery behind exactly what is going on.

If The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is a success, one has to imagine that even more The Dark Pictures Anthology games are in the cards. If so, it will be interesting to see if there is a teaser for the next game in the series at the end of Little Hope, similarly to how a Little Hope reveal is at the end of Man of Medan.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope launches this summer for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
