The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is an interactive horror game by the same minds that made Until Dawn. Like previous Supermassive titles, players start with a team of characters who will live or die based on the choices that players make throughout the game. There is a way to save everyone, but it's going to involve some difficult choices.

Little Hope features multiple endings, with players encouraged to replay the game in order to experience them all. As well as a Trophy/Achievement for keeping everybody alive, the game also has one for killing everyone, which, unsurprisingly, perhaps, is a lot easier to pull off.

Updated January 6, 2022, by Tom Bowen: With three of the four games that make up the first season of Supermassive's Dark Pictures Anthology now available and the fourth expected sometime later this year, now is arguably as good a time as any to check out this fantastic choice-based series. The pick of the bunch is perhaps Little Hope, which was first released in October of 2020 and can now be picked up on the cheap. As with the other games in the series, there are a lot of difficult choices in Little Hope, meaning that those hoping to keep everyone alive are going to need to tread carefully as they make their way through the story.

How Choices Influence Little Hope

Most of the choices in The Dark Pictures: Little Hope are extremely important. Players can improve or tarnish relationships with other characters through dialogue choices, with many going on to influence how the game ends. Choices are timed, but players should have long enough to choose the correct one providing they keep a couple of things in mind.

How to Save Everyone in Little Hope

In order to get the Salvation ending and save everyone, players will need to do three important things. Bearing in mind that choices really do matter a lot in this game, players should make sure to get an idea of the kind of decisions they should be making even before the potential options have come up.

The first thing that players need to do in order to ensure that everyone survives is to make sure that Carver is convicted of witchcraft instead of Mary. Since the historical witch trials of 1692 mirror the deaths of the characters in 1972, players need to save the past Mary to ensure they get the best ending. They can do this by choosing the Enraged option during Mary's witch trial and accusing Reverend Carver of witchcraft instead. After that, they must select the Insistent option.

As well as saving Mary, players will also need to succeed in every Little Hope quick time event as many of the QTEs decide a character's fate. Thankfully, players are given a decent amount of time to press the right buttons, meaning that even those who struggle with QTEs should be able to pull them off providing they stay calm.

The final thing that players have to do is to choose options that counteract each of the characters' worst traits. Make sure to choose the heroic options when given a choice, keeping the group bolstered and safe. There are plenty of conversational choices that can influence the ending too, but the most important choices are as follows:

Taylor is in trouble in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope
  • Saving Angela: Angela must choose the reassuring option and stand by John at the end when they both face their demons.
  • Saving Daniel: At the textile factory, Daniel must pick the reassuring option and choose to fight his demon alone.
  • Saving Taylor: Taylor needs to tell Daniel to let her go when she is taken by her demon and fight it alone. Players should also choose to help Taylor when given the choice to rescue her or Daniel.
  • Saving John: Players should let John make the heroic choice at the end when his demon tries to break down the door of the burned-out house.

How to Kill Everyone in Little Hope

As well as the Salvation Trophy/Achievement for saving everybody, players can also unlock That Dream Is Your Enemy by getting everybody killed. This is definitely a lot easier to pull off, with players able to fail QTEs as they go. Players can also kill everyone in one fell swoop by allowing Mary to be convicted of witchcraft. The latter is fairly useful, as it means that players can simply create a new save file before the trial and use it to get both trophies.

Andrew holds a gun to his head in The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope

For the very worst ending in Little Hope, players should collect the gun while playing as Andrew, and be sure to speak to Vince at the Church. After that, they'll simply need to allow Mary to be burned at the stake towards the end of the game. Doing so will lead to Andrew shooting himself in the head when the game reaches its climax; providing an incredibly dark conclusion to an already dark game.

The Dark Pictures: Little Hope is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
