Very little is known about Disney Plus' planned new series Daredevil: Born Again, however, new rumors point to Marvel Studios currently being on the lookout for at least 7 new roles in its MCU story.

Daredevil: Born Again was officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year during Marvel Studios' panel, nevertheless, Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock has been creeping his way back into the MCU for a while now. While his first cameo came in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Dardevil's latest appearance in She-Hulk was also well received by fans, showing off more of his personality and making many wonder who out of the original Netflix cast will reprise their respective roles.

Although that last part may be kept under wraps for longer, according to Marvel insider Daniel Richtman, Daredevil: Born Again casting directors Beth Bowling and Kim Miscia and casting assistants Michael Rios and Bailey Reed have already begun the hunt for several series regulars. The 7 roles in question do not seem to reference any particular character from the Daredevil comics and are simply listed as Aleck Wu, Freya, Harry, Josy, Cassandra, Olivia and Bailey. The detailed descriptions for each role read as follows:

"[Aleck Wu] - Male, 40s-60s, Chinese American. Older, dignified. The kind of man you follow into battle. Imposing physical presence. Accomplished martial artist. The leader of a powerful organization. Athletic/fight experience required, martial arts experience preferred. FRACTIONAL SERIES REGULAR WITH OPTIONS.

[Freya] - Female, 30s, any ethnicity. Thoughtful, warm, and naturally curious. FRACTIONAL SERIES REGULAR/ONE-SEASON DEAL.

So far, the only Netflix alumni to be brought back along with Cox has been Vincent D'Onofrio, who already showed up in Hawkeye to reprise his role as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin. The MCU's Daredevil reboot will reportedly begin filming in early February 2023, though it’s not clear what course Kevin Feige's Marvel Studios will take plot wise to revive the character. That said, rumors point to Daredevil: Born Again featuring a storyline where Kingpin plans a run for Mayor.

Out of the supposedly leaked list of characters, only Aleck Wu stands out as the type of figure who could end up being transformed into a new version of Daredevil's mentor, Stick, or a member of The Hand ninja clan given his ethnicity and mastery of martial arts. In the Netflix series, Stick was played by Scott Glenn, who died in that story, but it bears saying Marvel Studios has been particularly coy about addressing which aspects of that storyline will be salvaged.

Fan favorites Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Jon Bernthal, Rosario Dawson and Wilson Bethel remain on the sidelines for any future casting announcements, as the MCU continues to define Daredevil's new personality.

Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on Disney Plus in spring 2024.
