Alex Ross did a rendition of Danny Devito as X-Men hero Wolverine that looks right on brand for the character, as they both have a similar aesthetic. As fans likely know, Ross is renowned for doing many designs for both Marvel and DC, but this Wolverine artwork speaks for itself.

Ross is a comic book artist who has designed many covers and variants for both Marvel and DC Comics, which many creators have used as inspiration for their own designs. Zack Snyder's Justice League, for example, actually paid slight homage to Ross in the "Unite the Seven" teaser promotional artwork. Ross also has a website that links to all of his work throughout the years and fans are able to purchase those particular comics (including his X-Men titles) in order to support the talented artist.

Ross has also done designs for the X-Men comic books that mainly have Cyclops at the front and center. However, Wolverine is most definitely present, sporting the iconic yellow-clad outfit for which he's known. Wolverine is often considered to be the best at what he does, though many Marvel fans are still trying to figure out what that is, exactly. Regardless, Devito is now taking on the role of the iconic character in this fan-made creation. Ross' design is a lot more simple than what fans are used to, as he usually has more intricate, colored, and detailed paintings. However, this simple sketch still works and demonstrates Ross' talent.

The black and white sketch is very impressive, and DeVito's appearance really shines through given that the design is almost identical to the actual actor. The sketch also includes the three iconic adamantium claws that Wolverine is known for. While Hugh Jackman may be associated with Wolverine forever, DeVito arguably shares more in common with the comic version of the character, who is generally depicted as a short and hairy fellow.

Right now, this artwork may build anticipation because Marvel Studios is planning to bring in the properties that Fox previously owned (which include the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Doctor Doom, Galactus, and Silver Surfer). With Marvel Studios likely casting Wolverine for the ongoing fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), many are wondering who they will end up picking.

Jackman is known for being fans' favorite portrayal of the character, so replacing him will be a tough decision. Wolverine is also known for being 5'3" in the comics, so it's unclear if Marvel Studios will keep the character comic accurate or not. Marvel Studios may want to take a look at Ross' rendition of the character for casting inspiration.

The X-Men films are available on Disney Plus in Canada.
