Daniel Way Writing Deadpool Game

Leading up to the Deadpool game's big reveal at Comic-Con just over a week ago, many were speculating on what High Moon Studios next game would be. Many thought that the cat had been let out of the bag when a teaser site for Hit Monkey was released in what seemed like a premature fashion, but it looks as if that was all a clever ploy to divert the attention of gamers/comic fans. Now the "Merc with a Mouth" is on track to star in his very own video game, and none other than Daniel Way will be writing the script.

Daniel Way (for anyone puzzled as to who exactly this man is) is a Marvel comic book writer who's currently working on Deadpool (Vol. 2). Way first began work on the series back in 2008, and there isn't a better candidate for the job in the eyes of comic readers. Deadpool aficionados who were still a little skeptical of the game's debut trailer can now rest a little easier knowing that the authenticity of the comedic ne'er-do-well will remain intact.

High Moon Studios head Peter Della Penna confirmed Daniel Way's involvement in a press release that was written by none other than Deadpool himself.

"Deadpool came by the studio one day, said he was taking over, and that if I didn’t hire Marvel writer Daniel Way pronto and make the most amazing Deadpool video game, he’d break both of our arms and beat us to death with them. I have kids, so we’re making the game.”

Truly humbling words, indeed.

Having Way write the script means good things are in store for anyone who's up to date with the ongoing line of comics. At the very least, it looks as if the Deadpool game will be doing a real fan service for anyone who's been following the misadventures of Wade Wilson; let's just hope it's as much fun to play as it is to read the comics.

Deadpool is set to launch at some point in 2013 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
