Danganronpa is a quirky, often bizarre series that has nonetheless captured many players' attention. With stories that revolve around high schoolers trapped and forced to kill each other for survival, many have wondered what's in store for Danganronpa in 2021.

Now that question is answered. A new title for the Nintendo Switch, announced during the Nintendo showcase at E3, has been revealed: Danganronpa Decadence. A remastered collection of three titles from the series, it puts together the three Danganronpa games that most closely follow the formula set out by the original title. It also revamps a mini-game from one of those titles into a full game on its own.

Danganronpa Decadence combines three games into one collection: DanganronpaDanganronpa 2, and Danganronpa v3. While there have been spinoffs of Danganronpa before that are more action-oriented, each of these three titles follows the original Danganronpa gameplay loop.

Players take the role of one student of many trapped somewhere by Monokuma, an impossible talking bear. Students can escape by murdering each other, but each time there's a murder, the player must participate in a trial where they deduce the guilty party. In this way, players can once more experience the best and worst trials of Danganronpa. In addition, the board game from Danganronpa v3 has been expanded into a new standalone title: Danganronpa S: Ultimate Summer Camp.

The game that evolved into Danganronpa S started as a board game and miniature turn based battle game. In its new form, the game is expanded, presumably to have a full story with an all star cast. This means that, presumably, players can expect characters from previous titles to all come together to battle Monokuma themed foes in an RPG fashion. Seeing as this was not one of the more divisive elements of Danganronpa V3, it's likely many fans will want to check out the new board game.

While Danganronpa Decadence will collect all four games in one, each of the games will also release individually on the Nintendo eShop. This means that players missing only one or two games from their library can pick and choose. With Danganronpa games leaving the PlayStation Store, the Switch may well be the go to place to get them all.

There's no official release date yet, but the games will release during this year. Of course, there's more than murder to look forward to, as the games also focus on growing friendships similar to the Persona series. Time to look up all the proper gifts for Danganronpa 2 all over again.

Danganronpa Decadence and the games within it release later this year for the Nintendo Switch.
