It was just about a decade ago when Tron: Legacy released; a sequel to the 1982 cult classic Tron, the film was a direct sequel and featured all the fancy CGI and special effects that had been developed since the original movie was made. Of course, a 2010 film also needs some 2010 music, so the electronic music stars of Daft Punk were signed on to make a soundtrack, with special bonus tracks portioned out as exclusive offerings for various formats and platforms.

Anyone who has ever had to choose between exclusive offers for the same product can sympathize with the struggle of choosing between various bonus offers. It's a real pain to have different pieces of content scattered over several different purchases, especially for those with no interest in the tie-in products. Thankfully Daft Punk has seen fit to address this issue for fans who are still yearning to complete their soundtrack nearly ten years later.

The band, which is composed of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, with the support of Walt Disney Records, have finally released The Complete Edition of Tron: Legacy's original soundtrack. It's available to stream right now for those who want to jump on it as soon as possible. It includes nine additional tracks on top of the original Grammy-winning album, making it the most complete release yet, though it is still missing Jay-Z collaboration "Computerized."

It seems there are still quite a few fans looking to snap it up, too. A vinyl version of the new edition was also released several weeks ago and sold out quickly, so those interested in the vinyl version will have to wait for it to be repressed in 2021. While the film itself isn't so fondly remembered, it's nice to see that the soundtrack is getting the deluxe treatment it deserves.

Tron: Legacy was a box office success, but it underwhelmed audiences and critics, most of whom considered the film to be largely mediocre. The exception to that was the visual effects, which were impressively realized, and the soundtrack by Daft Punk, which was the band's first foray into big-budget soundtrack work, and stands on its own as an incredible musical achievement in its own right. Even those who haven't seen, or don't care about Tron, may want to give the soundtrack a chance regardless, especially now that the album is as complete as it's ever been.

Tron: Legacy - The Complete Edition soundtrack is currently available on digital streaming music services.
