Registration is now live for the Steam private beta for Ghostrunner, the upcoming cyberpunk action video game that received a slick new 30-second trailer for this year’s Gamescom virtual event.

The private beta is set to begin in mid-September and, to participate, interested gamers must first join the official Ghostrunner Discord server and then fill out a form on a specially created Google doc.

Only a fraction of applicants will be selected to participate in the beta, and the lucky few will receive a private message on the Ghostrunner Discord to confirm the accuracy of their information. Participants will also be asked to sign a nondisclosure agreement that prohibits publicly sharing details about the beta. Additionally, all beta participants must be at least 18 years of age.

Developed by multiple studios—One More Level, 3D Realms, and Slipgate Ironworks—Ghostrunner promises to be a fast-paced, action-oriented, single-player science-fiction game set in an original post-apocalyptic city. After a world-ending cataclysm, Dharma Tower serves as humanity’s last shelter, a grim cyberpunk megastructure filled with violence where human life has little value.

In Ghostrunner, the player is an elite blade fighter with superhuman reflexes who wields a katana and other high-tech weaponry to outclass enemies while climbing relentlessly to the top of Dharma Tower, where Mara the Keymaster rules with an iron fist. The main character also brandishes an energy whip that allows him to grapple to distant locations and uses parkour-like movements to run along walls and drop down on unsuspecting enemies below.

Ghostrunner will be released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in 2020.
