A Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One controller leaks online after a retailer posts it before an official announcement. Other Xbox One controllers for games such as Titanfall, Fortnite, and Gears 5 have all been incredibly popular, and a Cyberpunk 2077 controller could be successful as well.
In a post on Reddit, a Cyberpunk 2077 fan revealed a listing that they'd seen on the site of a South African games retailer. The retailer, Raru, had a listing for a product called "Microsoft - Xbox One Wireless Controller - Cyberpunk 2077 Limited Edition (Xbox One/Windows 10)." The listing didn't have a picture of the controller with it; it only had the Cyberpunk 2077 logo.
The listing has now been removed from the site, but this doesn't mean that the controller isn't happening. Microsoft and Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED have a very good relationship, and it is possible that the two are working together on an Xbox One controller.
CD Projekt RED revealed a new Cyberpunk 2077 trailer at the Xbox event at E3 2019, which many fans said was one of the best moments of the event. If the two companies could work together on something as important as that, then a special Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One controller design also seems like a possibility
The developer also brought Keanu Reeves, who plays Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, to the Xbox event at E3 2019. That was also exciting for fans, and Microsoft was able to keep Reeves' presentation at the event a secret until it happened. That also suggests that CD Projekt RED has faith in Microsoft to keep big releases like this quiet, though this retailer leak may have damaged that a bit.
Some may be wondering why Microsoft is choosing to release new controllers like this so close to the launch of the Xbox Series X. The Xbox Series X will have its own controller design, and many players will want to get special versions of that controller. Gamers may also want to save any money they have for new gaming equipment to buy the new console and not a controller for the old one.
However, the twist is that Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One controllers will work with the Xbox Series X. Cyberpunk 2077 is not confirmed for the Xbox Series X, but the Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One controller could be a way for fans to take the series with them to the new console.
Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release on September 17th, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
