The latest batch of Cyberpunk 2077 news is here, and it gives more information on the weapons in the game. There are different gun types, rarities, and even ways that players can modify their weapons, and Cyberpunk 2077 even allows for dual-wielding. Melee weapons, character enhancements, are more have all been detailed, and it looks like the game is shaping up to be a truly personalized experience.

The highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 is a futuristic RPG, but many of its mechanics are far from new. Weapons will have rarity from Common to Legendary. As with any rarity system, the highest rarity weapons will come with special unique attributes. These weapons can be quest rewards from difficult player decisions or can be owned by NPCs. The choice will be up to the gamers if they wish to kill some friendly Cyberpunk characters in order to loot their unique weapons.

The game features three types of guns: Tech, Power, and Smart. Tech weapons use electromagnets to shoot projectiles through walls. These guns are silent, deadly, and precise. Sniper rifles that are Tech types will be deadly in the hands of stealth players, much like the FarSight XR-20 from Perfect Dark.

For the more realistic players, Power weapons function almost like basic guns. Rather than any fancy futuristic abilities, like weaponized fingernails, Power weapons are things like shotguns that shoot actual bullets. The catch with these weapons is the ricochet feature, which can make bullets bounce off of walls and around corners. These are loud, dangerous, and the opposite of stealth. After all, there is no reason to be sneaky if no enemies are left alive.

The third group of weapons is the cheating type. Smart weapons can track targets, essentially letting players hack the game. These seem to be similar to Atlas guns in Borderlands 3, where aiming often takes a back seat. There will be other cheating abilities but, like all good cheats, those will be up to the player to discover.

In addition to guns, there are also melee weapons such as katanas and other types of swords. If players want a more personal touch, there are cyber upgrades that can, for one example, give the player blades for arms. This can be seen from the first trailer back in 2013, so there have been seven years of anticipation for mantis sword arms.

Weapons can be altered—such as with mods that can change stats or ammo types—or attachments like scopes and silencers. Between attachments and the three main weapon types, there will truly be an incredible amount of variety in this game. It will be exciting to see and share what types of ways each player chooses to play their own individual story.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release November 19 for Google Stadia, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
