CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2077 and Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption 2 are two very different games. For starters, the former has a futuristic setting including cybernetic body augmentations, and the other is a cowboy epic. Despite these differences, CD Projekt RED feels that it can learn a lot from the Rockstar masterpiece when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077's development and beyond.

Speaking during the company's latest investors call, CD Projekt RED CEO Adam Kiciński stressed, "Without a doubt, quality is of paramount importance" and that the developer aims to "publish games which are as refined as Red Dead Redemption 2, and recent Rockstar releases in general." Noting that the Rockstar game has sold incredibly well and has received "rave" reviews, it shows the team that they need to release "extraordinary games." This is especially the case as gamers seem to be focusing more on "hit" releases, said the executive.

This care will also extend to the level of detail featured in Cyberpunk 2077's world. Progress on the game is going "fast and according to plan," said the CD Projekt RED CEO, but the team is still working on "fleshing out the game world." CD Projekt RED has previously confirmed that it wants its new game to have a high level of detail, even saying that this will be one significant difference to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, its last major release.

However, creating an incredibly detailed world will only be effective if the game is relatively bug-free. While it will be cool to see NPCs change their facial expressions in direct response to the player, if an NPC suddenly falls through the floor mid-conversation, it's not going to be quite as impactful. Likewise, if the systems that underpin the game world suddenly stop working properly, players aren't going be enjoying themselves.

Positively, the CD Projekt RED CEO also explained, "Once the game is complete, we can begin to patch various bugs, both major and minor." The team is "setting aside time to complete this process," confirmed Kiciński.

As many may recall, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was not a bug-free experience by any means. Some notorious bugs to plague the game included the XP bug which prevented players from being properly rewarded for completing tasks. The studio doesn't want these same sorts of bugs to crop up with Cyberpunk 2077 though, which is why it plans to put so much effort into refining and polishing the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is currently being developed for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, while its release window is unknown at this point in time.
