Cyberpunk 2077 has been relatively quiet over the past few months, essentially since it received its last major patch: 1.3. Some rumors have cropped up about Cyberpunk 2077’s PS5 and Xbox Series X versions, as well as patch 1.5, but CD Projekt Red has denied at least some of it. Fans do know that these are on the way sometime early this year, but beyond that, the immediate and long-term future of Cyberpunk 2077 is mostly unclear.

Now, a new update for Cyberpunk 2077 has been found in the Steam database, which would seemingly suggest that CDPR is testing new content or a new update for the game. Testing, or at least preparing, this content is the likeliest scenario, as this update is currently not available to the public.

A screenshot of the SteamDB for CP2077 builds was posted on Reddit (and reported by TheGamer), and it shows that the last update prior to this one took place on October 28. This latest update was posted on January 14, meaning it’s only been a couple of days. Both of these builds are non-public, however, and so their content, fixes, etc. remain unknown.

In theory, it could be new game content, features, bug fixes, and other support designed to accompany Cyberpunk 2077’s 1.5 patch. At the same time, it could be something small that could go live in the coming days or weeks ahead of the next major patch. Only CDPR knows, of course, and it’s unlikely to comment on this latest update anytime soon.

Despite the relative silence, the end of 2021 was good for Cyberpunk 2077. Many players left positive reviews online after picking the game up at a discount, and CDPR believes that CP2077 will eventually be remembered as a great game. Much like the aforementioned update contents, that remains to be seen, but CDPR is aware that it needs to deliver on promised content and more this coming year.

Beyond Patch 1.5 and the PS5/Xbox Series X upgrades, fans know they’ll be getting more Cyberpunk 2077 free DLC akin to the alternative Johnny Silverhand costume, the new vehicle, and so on. More of that is bound to be sprinkled throughout the new year, while many are also hoping to see something of Cyberpunk 2077’s premium expansion solidify at some point this year. The announcement of it, if it happens, will likely happen much later this year, but fans may want to wait and see when CDPR posts a new roadmap to really manage their expectations.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
