Last week, the official Twitter account for Cyberpunk 2077 tweeted for the first time in four and a half years, fueling speculation that fans will finally get a substantial update on the long-gestating project. While we are still waiting on an official announcement from CD Projekt Red on when we'll see the game in action, some evidence points to it have a presence at E3 2018.

Polish publication GRYOnline has posted an article citing two separate sources that claim Cyberpunk 2077 will be featured at E3 2018 in the form of a trailer during one of the E3 press conferences. These unnamed sources also claim that a playable demo will be shown to journalists behind closed doors, meaning that unless there's a leak, gameplay footage will likely come some time after E3 in June.

If this information is accurate, it would be hardly surprising. After all, Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development for years, and The Witcher 3 launched way back in 2015. Since then, development on the ambitious project has ramped up considerably, and so it makes sense that fans will get more information on the game at this year's E3 event.

If Cyberpunk 2077 is shown at E3 2018, then the question remains which company will showcase it at its press conference. Right now, the most likely possibility seems to be Sony, as there have been reports that a playable demo has already been sent to the company. However, if a demo of the game has been sent to Sony as rumored, then it stands to reason that other information in the leak is true as well, which means that fans shouldn't expect to see the game until 2019 or even 2020.

Even though Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development for years, fans shouldn't be surprised if it takes another year or two in development before it's finished. After all, CD Projekt Red is going all-out with Cyberpunk 2077, and the game is shaping up to be the studio's most ambitious project yet. Not only is it supposedly larger than The Witcher 3, but it apparently has robust online functionality as well, and CD Projekt Red will want to make sure all of this is working before it launches the game.

It may be a long while until fans actually get their hands on the game, but if the latest rumors are true, then at least they'll finally get to see more of Cyberpunk 2077 at E3 2018 in June.
