When CD Projekt Red revealed Cyberpunk 2077 seven years ago, many expected the game to be a third-person action RPG, similar to the company's other titles such as The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt. However, CD Projekt Red took a different approach to develop Cyberpunk 2077 and eventually decided on a first-person perspective.

With Cyberpunk 2077 now finally out in the wild, the PC modding community has taken it into their hands to bring a third-person mode to the game. Earlier this month, modder Cineage showed off a video of what Cyberpunk 2077 would look like from a third-person perspective. Unfortunately back then, this mod was still a work-in-progress and wasn't playable in the game. Thankfully, as it seems, another modder took the responsibility and the first third-person mod for Cyberpunk 2077 is finally available for the PC players to use.

This mod comes from modder Jelle Bekkar, who posted the steps and the link to downloading this mod over at Nexus Mods. Players looking to download this mod would find it over at Nexus Mods with the name, "JB-TPP MOD WIP THIRD PERSON." Implementing this could be a bit tricky for players unfamiliar with the Nexus Mods. After downloading it, players will have to extract the mod's content in the folder "Cyberpunk 2077\binx64\". Once it's done, the mod should be available to use in the game.

This third-person mod comes with four different camera angles that players can choose from, easily switching between these with a press of a button. Since this is still a work-in-progress, minor bugs and performance issues may present themselves. Mods have always been vital in expanding the lifespan of a game by adding new meaningful content, as well as providing quality of life changes, and Cyberpunk 2077 is no different. Aside from the third-person mod, players can also download some other essential mods that could elevate their gaming experiences. The ones that players could download right now would enhance the Keyboard & Mouse controls, improves vehicle stability, and another unique one that allows Cyberpunk 2077 to look like Doom.

CD Projekt Red is currently hard at work fixing the various issues that plagued the game at its launch. Players can expect a lot from Cyberpunk 2077 in 2021, including free DLCs, next-gen upgrade, as well as an overall optimized game, especially on the base PS4 and Xbox One. While there's no word on an official third-person mode that could come to Cyberpunk 2077 in the future, players should not completely disregard such a possibility.

Popular third-person AAA titles such as Grand Theft Auto 5 received a free first-person mode later down the line which cultivated new experiences for the players. Moreover, other big open-world titles such as Elder Scrolls 5 Skyrim and Fallout 4 also proved how much Cyberpunk 2077 is missing out by not allowing its players to officially explore Night City from a third-person perspective.

Cyberpunk 2077 is now available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a free PS5 and Xbox Series X/S update coming in 2021.
