Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release in just one week. It's easily one of the most anticipated game releases of 2020, and given the hype surrounding the project, CD Projekt Red is implementing strict rules surrounding content creation for Cyberpunk 2077 leading up to launch. This is bothering some content creators who see it as a major opportunity to share the game, but xQc is standing up for CD Projekt Red and agrees with their strict content creation rules.

The situation is that while the game isn't out until December 10, copies are already out in the wild. Whether a retailer has started selling copies early, whether copies have been stolen, or whether CD Projekt Red has provided review units to different media outlets, what matters is that people are playing Cyberpunk 2077 right now. While CD Projekt Red acknowledges that reality, it doesn't want anything spoiled. As such, it's putting a blanket ban on content creation until launch.

Streamers, YouTubers, and other content creators will be able to stream and make videos starting December 9 at 3:00 AM PT. The embargo will end for everyone at the exact same time, so everyone can publish their content on equal footing. The game won't officially launch until a day later, but it is a reasonable compromise from CD Projekt Red. It's all in an effort to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience Cyberpunk 2077 spoilers free.

Twitch streamer xQc provided some context for how frustrating it can be to deal with pre-launch content creation. He describes how he previously had to pay someone to use their account just to play a popular game early. It wasn't made widely available to content creators, so he did what he had to in order to be a part of the initial push and excitement surrounding the game. As such, xQc says that he is "happy" that CD Projekt Red took action and made sure "the playing field is even across the board."

This world of video game streaming and content creation is still being adjusted to by a lot of video game fans. While there are millions anxious to play Cyberpunk 2077 for themselves, there are also going to be millions who experience the game solely through watching Twitch streams or Let's Plays on YouTube. CD Projekt Red's decision will put both groups on an even playing field.

That said, content creation does open up prior to Cyberpunk 2077's launch. Those hoping to avoid spoilers will have to be extra careful to avoid streams, YouTube, and social media. A lot of people are going to be spoiled regardless of CD Projekt Red's intentions, but everyone can try to do is their best to ensure as many people as possible have a great experience.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases December 10 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions in development.
