Fans of CD Projekt Red have been waiting a long time for the release of Cyberpunk 2077. And then when they thought the open-world game would be launching soon, they waited some more. This time, it looks like Cyberpunk 2077 really will meet its launch date, but fans will have a new problem to wrestle with. In addition to being patient, CD Projekt Red fans will to avoid Cyberpunk 2077 discourse online, as etail copies of Cyberpunk 2077 have leaked early and spoilers are already being shared online.

Reports of Cyberpunk 2077 being leaked early began circulating over the past couple of days. It's unclear what started these rumors, but it likely had to do with PS4 copies of Cyberpunk 2077 arriving at warehouses in the USA. Photos started going up showing the Cyberpunk 2077 box among a stack of others, and it very clearly seemed to be a stack of retail copies held in preparation for launch day. While it wasn't confirmation that Cyberpunk 2077 had been leaked, it was evident that it was just a matter of time.

That prediction proved true early Sunday morning, where the first visible recording of Cyberpunk 2077 has been shared online. This confirms that leaked retail copies of Cyberpunk 2077 are now being played and that spoiler footage is all but certain to be shared between now and launch. Those looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077 should be cautious of clicking on random Twitter threads, going through unmoderated forums, or clicking on random videos, lest they have Cyberpunk 2077 spoiled.

Indeed, muting the term, avoiding social media, and doing everything possible to avoid anything Cyberpunk-related may be the best thing for those wanting to go into the game fresh. It's actually at a good time, though, as Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and other events may very well flood information channels between now and December 10. If there's one place that should be avoided, it's likely any subreddit that deals with the game.

Luckily, for the time being, the early footage that has been published online isn't spoiler-heavy, as it appears to be a 5-minute recording of Cyberpunk 2077's early action. The players are also joking around a lot, so they barely make any progress whatsoever. It does give an impression of gameplay that's otherwise unavailable in CD Projekt Red's early footage, however, and it would suggest that more is possible if fans aren't wary enough.

While there may not be any major spoilers online right now, it's just a matter of time. Copies of Cyberpunk 2077 are confirmed to be in the wild, and those with access to these early copies of the game are clearly comfortable recording it, for whatever reason. Ruining games pre-release is never a good thing, but anyone interested in spoiling a game 8 years in the making is likely the worst kind of spoiler. If footage of major Cyberpunk 2077 spoilers isn't eventually published, first-hand knowledge will be, and it's likely to happen sooner, rather than later.

This news is understandable disappointing to hear about. CD Projekt Red has been working on Cyberpunk 2077 for years and fans have been anxiously awaiting its eventual release. Now, with just a few weeks before launch, fans have to be cautious lest they potentially have parts of the game ruined. It's not fair, but that's just the state of the gaming industry and community.
