Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt RED reveals new information about one of the game's corporation. The developer has been sharing more gang and corporation details over the last few months, like its reveal about The Mox, a gang that defends sex workers.

On Twitter, CD Projekt RED shared a short video showing the logo of Cyberpunk 2077 corporation Kang-Tao. Kang-Tao is a young Chinese company, said the developer, and it makes smart-gun technology and offers security services. The corporation is "making its way to the top of the weapon industry at a tremendous pace thanks to bold choices, courageous strategy, and government backing."

CD Projekt RED has teased Cyberpunk 2077's smart weapons before. In early 2019, the developer confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 players would be able to use several weapon types such as powerful weapons with ricocheting bullets, melee weapons like katanas, and smart weapons. CD Projekt RED said that a smart gun could be one that has honing bullets that lock onto someone.

If guns with honing bullets are the sort of weapon that Kang-Tao members will be using, the corporation could be a difficult one for players to take on. This may be a good reason for players to choose the Corpo origin story for the protagonist, as this origin story is able to create better relationships with corporations like Kang-Tao more easily.

Kang-Tao also isn't the only Cyberpunk 2077 corporation that has a relationship with the game's government. The game will also feature a corporation called Arasaka which has been helped and hurt by government actions. The corporation provides police services to governments but after killing thousands of people during the Fourth Corporation War, it was kicked out of the United States. By the time Cyberpunk 2077 happens though Arasaka seems to have made its way back to Night City and series creator Mike Pondsmith has teased an exciting Arasaka quest.

Arasaka is also rumored to provide support to the Tyger Claws gang. It's unclear if Kang-Tao will provide funding and weapons to the gangs of Night City too, but this could send the game's protagonist on an adventure as they manage to stop the supply of smart guns so that they can take the gang down. There is huge potential for the Cyberpunk 2077 corporations and CD Projekt RED will be revealing more about them before the game is released.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases September 17 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with an Xbox Series X version also in development.
