The Scavengers are one of the many gangs that have made Night City their home. Not much is known about this elusive gang, but the citizens in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 know that if one were to ever encounter the members of the Scavengers, the safest option would be to run away from them as fast as possible.

Like all the gangs of Night City, the Scavengers have a long and interesting story. Those who have seen the "gangs trailer" of Cyberpunk 2077 have already heard that the Scavengers hold the highest body count number out of all of the Night City gangs. Aside from this, however, there are more things about this gang any mercenary should know if they're ever to cross paths with them.

8 They're Always After Cyberware

The most common information known about the Scavengers is that their main goal is the collecting of cyberware. They do this in different ways. The most horrific one, however, is the fact that they kidnap random people and forcibly remove and harvest their cyberwares.

Those who have had the absolute misfortune of being abducted by the Scavengers are often never found, as the gang will always use the entire body to scour any piece of cyberware they can find. It is said that the "leftovers" are often burned, dumped, or thrown in the sewers for the rats to feed on.

7 They Have No Definite Territory

Unlike all the other gangs in Night City, the Scavengers don't have an exact territory. Perhaps, for the Scavengers, Night City as a whole is their entire playground. The members of the Scavengers are found all around the city. This way, they can cover more ground and find more people to abduct.

The members of the Scavengers often operate in small groups, wherever they are in Night City. They also have no official hierarchy—or at least, as far as anyone knows. They simply operate as a union, abducting anyone they can, harvesting as much cyberwares as they can.

6 They Have Ties With The Soviet Union

Although extensive information about the Scavengers is non-existent, it is widely believed that the gang has connections with the Soviet Union. Most members of the gang have tattoos that imply they were either once, or also current members of a Russian Mafia known as the Bratva or vory v zakone.

The Bratva is often seen as one of the most brutal and dangerous criminal organizations in the Cyberpunk universe. If this assumption is true, this explains why the Scavengers don't have an exact headquarters nor hierarchy in Night City. If they do have a headquarters, it's just not located in the city.

5 They Call Their Victims "Donors"

If the Scavengers couldn't be more despicable already, the members of the Scavengers choose to call their victims "donors." Very tasteful. This further proves how far removed the Scavengers are from their humanity. They will always dehumanize their victims and call them "donors" because, for them, they are nothing more but bodies containing cyberwares for them to harvest.

The Scavengers also don't have a specific group of people to target, which makes them very unpredictable, and all the more dangerous. Their victims will always be random. Whether they're citizens, cops, politicians, businessmen, or gangers, they're potential "donors" in the eyes of a Scavenger, regardless of who or how powerful they are.

4 Their Usual Customers

Aside from kidnapping and murdering people, one of the things the Scavengers love most is making money. In a place like Night City, no one is really immune to the appeal of wealth. Their stolen cyberwares have to go somewhere, somehow. The cyberwares and organs the Scavengers obtain from their victims often end up in the black market.

The cyberwares that aren't high-end enough go to the Scavengers' other customers. In Night City, this gang is very known as one of the main suppliers of low-end cyberwares to other gangs, corporations, and even ripperdocs who can't be bothered to spend the right amount for the proper parts.

3 They Can Also Act As Mercenaries

While the Scavengers' main source of income is their distribution of the cyberwares they personally harvested from their victims, they are also known to accept various dirty jobs. For as long as it pays, the Scavengers will do it without any hesitation, most especially if it can somehow benefit their cyberware-grabbing modus operandi.

The Scavengers often do heists, abductions, hit jobs, and anything inconvenient to the client. Because of the Scavengers' disregard for human life and sadistic nature, they often perform their jobs well, which is why various clients seek them out despite their terrifying reputation.

2 They Frequent Pacifica And Wellsprings

Despite the Scavengers holding no official territories and them being omnipresent all throughout Night City, members of the gang are often more seen frequenting northern Pacifica and southern Wellsprings.

Any guesses as to why the Scavengers frequent these places more so than others is as good as any, but this choice actually makes sense for the gang. The Pacifica district is known to be a lawless area that the police pay no mind to anymore. The Wellsprings, on the other hand, is considered to be one of the safest places in Night City, if that even accounts for anything. If anyone were to drop their guard whenever they're in Night City, it would be in Wellsprings. This makes it a perfect place for the Scavengers to scavenge for victims.

1 V Can Get Abducted By The Scavengers

While the players can spot various members of the Scavengers in Night City, and engage them, should they wish, there is one particular side job in the game where the player can actually be abducted by the Scavengers.

In Japantown, the players can encounter a man named Stefan who's offering a brain dance session for the price of 16,000 eurodollars. Those foolish enough to take this deal will be led to a room, where they can pay 4,000 more to run a brain dance on their machines. All of this is just a con by the Scavengers. Those who will take these deals will wake up naked in a room with all of their belongings stolen. If this happens to V, they wake up before the Scavengers do even more damage and wipe them out to escape.
