During the Search and Destroy mission of Cyberpunk 2077, V can find and save Goro Takemura. Doing so can slightly change events down the line, such as Cyberpunk 2077's final mission and credits. This article contains story spoilers for Cyberpunk 2077.

Takemura is one of Cyberpunk 2077's most profound characters. During a heist mission involving kidnapping Hanako Arasaka, Arasaka's forces blast through the building and it collapses. Johnny Silverhand will tell V that Takemura is "toast," leading the player to believe that he's likely been immediately killed, so Search and Destroy is the end of his story. However, it's possible to save Takemura among the rubble, and it can influence some late-game content.

How to Save Takemura

Rescuing Takemura in Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty simple, V just needs to find him first. Instead of listening to Johnny's directions and escaping the building immediately, after he says "keep low and eyes three-sixty" in that room with the neon cross, to the left will be a hole in the wall glowing red. Go straight to the back of this room, defeating enemies as they attack, and head into the large doorway on the right.

Beyond this, there is a staircase corridor about 30 feet away illuminated by a faint white light. Go up, and V will know they're going in the right direction if Johnny Silverhand says they've "lost it" and Takemura can be heard laughing in the distance. At this point, a new task and waypoint should pop up leading V to save Takemura. Follow it through the hallway into a room on the right after defeating more Arasaka gunmen.

There will be more soldiers in this room seemingly shooting at Takemura in the rightmost corner of room 303. Approach him up against a wall and he'll run along with V to escape the building. Follow the waypoint until V gets outside and collapses, where Takemura will insist they part ways for now.

Takemura's Appearance During Cyberpunk 2077's Ending

Should V choose to save Takemura, he will appear if V chooses the Hanako/Arasaka ending to Cyberpunk 2077. Instead of Hellman arriving to pick up V alone, Takemura will be with him and reveal that he's no longer "hiding in filth," and is back in good graces with Arasaka. Takemura will also be present throughout the final mission by V's side. If Takemura is not saved during Search and Destroy, he will simply not be present and V will go up against Arasaka forces alone.

The Arasaka ending is possibly the most bitter of them all. Takemura will appear once again as an old friend and deliver the news instead of Hellman, who would be doing so if Takemura did not live, but the ending is not better nor worse with him still in the picture.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, and will launch in 2021 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
