CD Projekt RED reveals that romances in Cyberpunk 2077 will be comparable to the romance gameplay in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The developer added "hours" of sex and love scenes in The Witcher 3 and it sounds as though CD Projekt RED is attempting to one-up that with the upcoming release of Cyberpunk 2077.

On Reddit, user Magired1234 shared screenshots of a conversation they had with Cyberpunk 2077's lead quest designer, Paweł Sasko, over Twitter direct messages. In the DMs, Sasko said that romance in the game will be "similar to how Witcher 3 was" and fans can expect "whole plotlines" for a love interest character. The developer also teased Cyberpunk 2077's love scenes, explaining that in The Witcher 3, when NPCs were treated well and liked protagonist Geralt "something was happening ;)".

Sasko also shared information about the diversity of the game's love interests. Cyberpunk 2077 will have "way more" love interest options than just heterosexual, said Sasko, as The Witcher 3's Geralt is heterosexual and so would only have romances with female NPCs. CD Projekt RED's new game allows players to make their character's sexuality whatever they like, whether that be a same-sex relationship or if the player wants to pursue a relationship with one or more NPCs.

There have been some discussions about Sasko's comments regarding NPCs and if players will be able to have polyamorous relationships. Fans want to know if they could have one main love interest but still romance other NPCs, and if there will be some NPCs who get upset if they find out that the player character has been romancing other people. NPCs like Keanu Reeves' Johnny Silverhand have huge amounts of dialogue in the game and if CD Projekt RED has written that much dialogue for any of the love interests, there will be enough room for romantic conflicts, dramas, and love triangles.

In other comments about the DMs with Sasko, Magired1234 said that the developer was unable to share more information on which Cyberpunk 2077 NPCs players will be able to romance. Fans have their fingers crossed that they can romance Meredith, the corporation boss that players have a conflict with in the first gameplay trailer, as well as the player character's best friend, Jackie. Romances with these characters haven't been confirmed yet but CD Projekt RED will probably share much more about romance before the game is released next year.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on April 16, 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
