One of the biggest pillars of Cyberpunk 2077 is the perk system that lets players customize exactly how they want to play their character. The game is highly customizable, letting players control everything from eating a meal during a dialogue option to choosing the appearance and gear for their Cyberpunk 2077 character.

In addition to these are attributes that increase stats, skills that provide talents related to attributes, and perks that are either passive buffs or new abilities. It's possible to respec attributes and perks in Cyberpunk 2077, but it comes with some fine print.

Updated October 27, 2023 by Erik Petrovich: With the 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077 comes a new way to respec in the revitalized base game. Now, players can reset Attributes in Cyberpunk 2077, and resetting Perks is easier than ever. While there's a catch to the Cyberpunk Attribute respec, there are fewer restrictions when it comes to how to reset Perks. Players don't even need to go to anywhere special, or get an item, to respec in Cyberpunk 2077 anymore, as it can all be done from within each respective game menu. 2.0 changed a lot of core mechanics in Cyberpunk 2077, and knowing the new respec systems is the first step towards honing a build to take on the new challenges of both Phantom Liberty and the base game.

How to Reset Attributes in Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 Respec Reset Attributes Menu

With the release of the 2.0 update for Cyberpunk 2077, players can now reset their Attribute points, but it's limited. In the Attribute menu, players who have not yet reallocated their points in their playthrough should see a button on the bottom left of the screen – "Reset Attributes." Press this to refund all Attributes (even those spent in character creation) to reapportion as wished.

The downside of the ability to respec Attributes in the 2.0 update is that it can only be done once. It's best to wait at least until around Level 20, or around the start of Act 2 in the base game, before choosing to reset Attributes. At this point, a player will have a good idea of the kind of playstyle they want for the rest of Cyberpunk 2077, and it will be easier to hone in on the stats that are important to desired builds.

How to Reset Perks in Cyberpunk 2077

While it's a big decision to reset Attributes in Cyberpunk 2077 because it can only be done once, resetting Perks is much simpler and much more forgiving. Within each sub-menu for each Attribute, players are able to spend Perk points on various passive and active skills related to that Attribute. Hover over Perks that have already been selected, and players should see an input for "REFUND".

Press this input to immediately remove the Perk from V and grant a Perk Point to spend elsewhere. Players must refund dependent Perks before trying to refund parent Perks, which will not reset unless the skills they unlock are also refunded. Refunding Perks can be repeated as many times as players want, for free, within this menu.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
