Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red's current project, Cyberpunk 2077 has been getting a lot of buzz again recently due to a cryptic Tweet that was posted on the game's long dormant Twitter page a few months ago. A multitude of rumors have been flying around since the Tweet and now it seems there is another one to add to the list.
Cyberpunk 2077 has recently been the center of many rumors regarding its development status, release date, and features. The latest rumor centers around which platforms it will be playable on. It is being speculated that the title will be cross-gen, meaning it will release on current gen consoles like PS4 and Xbox One, as well as the PS5 and the next iteration of Microsoft's console. The game has already been confirmed to be coming to PC. The rumor comes from information found on the image below.
Information on the game has been an on again/off again affair, with there being hardly any news on the title for a few years. The aforementioned Tweet in January marked the first time there had been a post on the game's Twitter page in almost four years. Since then, some more information (and rumors) have come out, including a leak claiming the game is in a playable state.
The developer itself has been very quiet on details regarding Cyberpunk 2077, outside of confirming they are still working on the title. CD Projekt Red has also stated it would like to see the game become a franchise, much like its critically acclaimed Witcher series.
Outside of that, details have been scant from the developer. The only other thing that has been confirmed by the company is that the game will be released on Steam, and not a GOG exclusive title for its PC launch. While it hasn't been confirmed for home consoles, it is assumed it will be, especially given the success the last two Witcher titles have seen on Sony and Microsoft's machines.
While nothing has been confirmed for a reveal at E3 2018, which is only a few short months away, it would be safe to assume some sort of announcement will be made regarding Cyberpunk 2077. Odds are good, as another rumor that was reported by a few separate sources stated there would be another trailer and a playable demo at the event.
Cyberpunk 2077 currently has no specific release window, nor have platforms besides PC been confirmed.
