Cyberpunk 2077 had one of the more notable launches of 2020. Despite the game’s multiple delays and lofty expectations, it was released with a wide array of bugs and glitches that rendered it unplayable for some. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers had a particularly troublesome time trying to play Cyberpunk 2077, so much so that the game was eventually removed from the PlayStation storefront altogether. CD Projekt Red has promised to continue to support the game, planning to transform the game into what fans had once hoped it would be.

CD Projekt Red has been busy since Cyberpunk 2077’s launch, releasing multiple updates that have addressed a number of concerns fans had about the game. Just under half of Cyberpunk’s development team is still working on the game post-launch, showing how dedicated CD Projekt Red is to creating the game fans had hoped for. However, Cyberpunk’s latest update, patch 1.3, has created all new problems for the game. Fans may be disheartened by the all-new bugs introduced by the latest update, as the game’s bugs are still prevalent months after launch.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a long and storied history of bugs and glitches, which had quite a major impact on the reception of the game at launch. Despite this, CD Projekt Red has remained committed to updating the game, with nearly half of Cyberpunk’s development team still working on the game post-launch. There have been a number of updates since Cyberpunk’s launch that have brought stability to the game, particularly on previous generation consoles. Cyberpunk fans' patience will hopefully pay off eventually, as the game’s roadmap sees updates and DLC packs through 2022. Update 1.3 may be fans’ first insight into the content of future Cyberpunk updates.

Cyberpunk 2077’s new 1.3 update has brought with it a long list of updates and improvements, as well as free DLC. Cyberpunk’s free DLCs include the ability to change Johnny Silverhand’s appearance, new jackets for V, and the new Archer Quartz “Bandit” vehicle. Included in the patch were quest-specific fixes, improved driving animations for NPCs, the ability to reset perks, among many more updates. Update 1.3 covered a lot of bases, many of which were of great interest to Cyberpunk fans. Unfortunately, the update was not successful in ridding the game of additional bugs, with patch 1.3 introducing several new bugs to Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077’s New Bugs and Glitches

While Cyberpunk’s patch 1.3 made a lot of changes to the game, including some important fixes, Cyberpunk’s bugs are still fairly widespread. One such bug occurs when V begins swimming, as their shadow shows the player’s head disappearing while their arms extend and contort in unnatural directions. But aside from V appearing to gain the powers of Elastigirl, there are a number of other bugs that have appeared since the update which may impact on players’ enjoyment of the game. One bug turns Johnny Silverhand partly invisible, while another causes floating cars, and Cyberpunk still has issues with vehicles and NPCs loading in out of nowhere.

For all of the good that Cyberpunk 2077’s 1.3 update has done, the game still has fairly extensive issues with bugs and glitches. For fans, these bugs may come as a major blow as the game appears to be taking two steps forward and one step back. Despite how far the game has come since its launch, including Cyberpunk being added back to the PlayStation storefront, it seems as though Cyberpunk’s issues remain. Cyberpunk 2077 faces an uphill battle in becoming the game that it was once promised to be, but it seems CD Projekt Red is committed to making it live up to pre-launch expectations.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions currently in development.
