Following heavy-handed complaints from players about the NCPD response system in Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red aims at fixing the issues with a major upcoming patch.

Among the many bugs and issues that were apparent during Cyberpunk 2077's launch were issues with the NCPD. It seemed that the police force in Night City was extremely aggressive. The goal was seemingly something close to Skyrim's guards: after committing a crime, guards will eventually attack following a warning. But with the NCPD, officers spawn immediately after committing a crime and attack, and cops will continue to appear unless the player successfully outruns them. Sometimes officers spawn and attack even when a crime isn't taking place. Regardless, it left no room for mistakes and resulted in quite a nuisance.

But it looks like CD Projekt Red has a patch coming soon that aims to resolve issues with the police as well as a number of other problems and player-requested solutions. In a video on the official Cyberpunk 2077 YouTube titled "What's new in Night City [Patch 1.2] #1," V is shown shooting innocent bystanders with much delay before the police arrive. Additionally, this means that officers will also not appear directly next to V and will more realistically come in from off-screen.

One new NCPD element that Patch 1.2 will add is a bot that will precede the police after a crime is committed and attack. In the video, a couple of cops show up on the scene, however, the clip ends before V kills either of them and doesn't confirm if the excessive spawning issue has been resolved. Still, the hope is that this Cyberpunk 2077 issue will be patched out soon.

The patch will also affect car handling in Cyberpunk 2077, which CDPR did by tweaking individual vehicles, including the player's starting car. Additionally, while some vehicles currently get stuck on some architecture such as curbs and mailboxes, the 1.2 update will add a feature that allows V to rock the vehicle back and forth with the accelerator to dislodge them. Hopefully, this patch will help players avoid losing control of vehicles and accidentally mowing down pedestrians on sidewalks, resulting in the NCPD chasing after V.

Patch 1.2 was previously delayed after a cyberattack on CDPR's infrastructure. A hacker or group of hackers stole source code for multiple CDPR games including Cyberpunk 2077 and threatened to leak the information online after being disgruntled with the handling of the game. But hopefully, this Patch 1.2 update means that it's just on the horizon.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X upgrades are in the works.
