CD Projekt recently revealed plenty of new information about Cyberpunk 2077 during its second Night City Wire stream, including information on the game’s weapons and choices player’s character can make. However, key members of CD Projekt’s team have also been talking with many outlets about other aspects of the game, including different types of enemies and combat scenarios. In fact, a recent interview by way of VG247 with Cyberpunk 2077’s gameplay director revealed how the team will be handling enemies with high amounts of health.

CD Projekt’s Pawel Kapala sat down with VG247’s Alex Donaldson to talk about how the team will tackle a major issue present in many RPGs and shooter games: how players can overcome bullet sponge enemies. Right off the bat, Kapala quells some of the potential fears saying, “Most of the NPCs that you will meet are normal, just goons. And if you’re continuing to level up, and if you’re on the level of the enemy, you should never experience bullet sponginess.” Cyberpunk 2077 has an incredible number of NPCs that can turn hostile and fight players.

However, Kapala does confirm that boss enemies, or even big, brutish enemies, will appear in the game, as fans have seen before with Adam Smasher. Though Kapala does go on to say that the team has implemented certain features to give players opportunities to make strategies during boss encounters.

Specifically, Kapala explains that every NPC will have hit reactions, meaning they will react accordingly to gunfire by stumbling or falling instead of appearing to soak up damage from bullets. Additionally, with Cyberpunk 2077’s massive variety of weapon types, players should have plenty of avenues to take down enemies with lots of health.

The full interview with Kapala sheds light on plenty more interesting details about the game, so it’s very much worth a read. Additionally, the previously mentioned second Night City Wire showcase detailed plenty of new information as well, in-depth looks at lifepaths and weaponry throughout the game. Plans have plenty to look forward to on November 19.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release November 19th, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X version planned for the future.
