Pacifica is one of six districts found within Cyberpunk 2077's Night City, and while a little of that info has been out for a while now, developer CD Projekt Red took a deep dive into the area, describing its history and its habitants. This came as part of the interview that followed the most recent Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay stream, though some of these details did come from the gameplay itself.

First, it's worth highlighting how Pacifica is dominated by two gang-like factions: The Voodoo Boys and The Animals. The Voodoo Boys are the classic do-good-for-the-community organization and are considered the best Netrunners in all of Cyberpunk 2077's Night City. In contrast, the Animals see themselves as the top of the food chain and are the more aggressive, meathead-like gang faction located in the area.

The Haitian community is represented and perhaps even protected by the Voodoo Boys, as it is revealed that a massive catastrophe struck Haiti in the 2060s, forcing massive emigration to Night City. The Voodoo Boys faction rose out of this emigration, as many settled in the Pacifica district, and it is this faction that previous videos have shown Cyberpunk 2077 protagonist V working for.

Moreover, the Pacifica district in Cyberpunk 2077 was once to be the "Crown Jewel" of Night City, but it eventually lost its funding. This resulted in a lot of half-completed projects, such as the mega mall, appearing all over the district, and it eventually turned into a place many really wouldn't want to be. Pacifica, as opposed to Watson or City Center, is described as abandoned and plagued with poverty.

As of now, it's uncertain how much time players will be spending in Pacifica, but given its highlight in the recent stream, it seems likely to be a fair amount. The map in Cyberpunk 2077 is reportedly smaller than Witcher 3, but it is said to be denser, likely meaning that areas like Pacifica will have a high degree of complexity to them.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases April 16, 2020, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
