A new Cyberpunk 2077 update could be coming in the near future. While Cyberpunk 2077 had one of the most infamous launches in recent gaming history thanks to a multitude of game-breaking bugs and glitches, CD Projekt Red has since addressed several of the game’s worst issues in a series of patches over the past couple of years. The most prominent of these was Cyberpunk 2077’s update onto the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, which brought aspiring mercenary V and their gritty quest to make a name for themselves in the brutal Night City to current hardware last February.

There have been several other patches since the blockbuster Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.5, though these have been much smaller in scope. Nonetheless, last March’s Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.52 patch addressed several bugs that prevented players from progressing in certain questlines. Additionally, last September’s Update 1.6 added cosmetic items and lore additions from the successful Cyberpunk Edgerunners Netflix anime - which has caused an uptick in players that have experienced the many improvements made to Cyberpunk 2077 since its troubled launch in 2020.

Now, yet another update patch could be coming to Cyberpunk 2077 soon. Reddit user ticidavis shared a screenshot of Cyberpunk 2077’s Steam QA branch earlier this week, and it has apparently been updated to include three new internal developer branches. While there currently isn’t much else to go on, fans are already speculating that the next Cyberpunk 2077 update patch could be nearing the final stages of development and could be released sometime soon.

If this screenshot leak is indeed a sign of a Cyberpunk 2077 patch, it could be connected to the previously announced Phantom Liberty DLC expansion. Announced as the first and only batch of new story content for Cyberpunk 2077 in December, Phantom Liberty will take V to a new section of Night City for a high-tech mystery involving the New United States of America government. Hollywood mega-star Idris Elba will lend his likeness and voice to a new character named Solomon Reed, a secret agent who may or may not be an unlikely ally to V and Johnny Silverhand in their latest adventure.

Cyberpunk 2077’s updated Steam QA branch could mean anything, but it is most likely a sign of a new update for the game ahead of Phantom Liberty’s release later this year. Whether this update is a large-scale fix on par with Update 1.5 or something more minor remains to be seen, but it is certainly an exciting time for fans who have stuck with Cyberpunk 2077 through its many hurdles and bug fixes for nearly three years.

Cyberpunk 2077 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
