For fans of Cyberpunk 2077, E3 2019 proved to be a treasure trove of new details and information regarding the game. The biggest reveals seemed to come during the Microsoft press conference, where fans not only got to see Keanu Reeves join the game as Johnny Silverhand but reveal the long awaited release date as well. This year's conference has also provided more insight through developer interviews including the romance system, how vehicles work, and now the confirmation regarding morality.

As expected, Cyberpunk 2077 seems to take a bit of inspiration from CD Projekt RED's other big franchise, The Witcher, in terms of how players deal with choices and situations. In a interview at the show, quest director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz revealed that the studio hasn't created a system behind the scenes to track player morality based on how they play. Without having to stop and consider what the game would consider a good or bad action, players are freed up to pursue and accomplish what they want, how they want.

“We don’t have a moral system per se. However, to complete it non-lethally you have to be very good at stealth. Invest in points that allow you to stealth better, use weapons that will allow you to incapacitate the enemy instead of killing them, to make the moral choices that will allow you to avoid killing people throughout the game."

This should be welcome news for players who want different options when attempting to play through the game non-lethally. Without having to worry about certain behaviors or actions having a negative effect on the game's story or conclusion, they're instead given the creative freedom to approach situations in many different ways. Regardless of those looking to go full stealth or perhaps to use cyber warfare to mess with their enemies, the developer has also revealed that nearly every weapon or cyberware available for use in game can be used in a non-lethal way as well.

While players may not need to worry about a morality system that silently judges their actions, they will need to take each decision they make seriously as Cyberpunk 2077 does have multiple endings. CD Projekt RED isn't saying how many endings the game actually has but the news shouldn't be too surprising considering the multitude of ways that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could have ended based on decisions and choices the player made throughout the lengthy campaign.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on April 16th, 2020 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
