Cyberpunk 2077 just received a ton of new details regarding gameplay and weapon choices. As guns will play a big role in combat, crazy weapons like the wild 8-barrel aimbot shotgun is a weapon that players will want to look out for.

It seems that CD Projekt Red is trying to detail many of the game’s systems as Cyberpunk 2077’s launch gets closer. Now, Cyberpunk’s gameplay director Pawel Kapala has taken time to explain how the team is tweaking melee combat before the game launches in November.

As many fans know, a large part of Cyberpunk 2077’s combat will focus on gunplay. While the Kapala of CD Projekt Red has already spoken about how the Cyberpunk will avoid bullet sponge enemies, there is also a whole other side of combat that the team has spoken about a bit less. That being the melee combat side of Cyberpunk’s gameplay. However, a recent interview by way of VG247 gives a bit more insight on how the team is handling melee combat and tweaking it before the game’s launch in November.

One of the earliest negative impressions when outlets were able to play a brief demo of Cyberpunk was that the melee combat was one of the weaker elements of the experience. Apparently, CD Projekt took those criticisms to heart and agreed with them. Speaking to VG247’s Alex Donaldson, Kapal said, “We’re still a couple of months before release, and I’m actually right now working on melee. We’re spending a lot of time trying to perfect that, and we basically, we’re not 100 percent happy, mostly with visual feedback on the hits, on the melee.” There are plenty of weapon types in Cyberpunk 2077 and a large chunk of players will no doubt be heavily investing in melee combat.

Considering that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games of this fall, it’s no surprise that CD Projekt Red is doing as much as possible to make sure the game lives up to its incredibly high expectations. Later in the interview, Kapala clarifies that while there is still some tweaking to be done to the game’s melee combat, it’s apparently “much better than it was” back when outlets demoed the game. Kapala also said that melee would be a viable combat method to play through most of Cyberpunk’s content, though it would end up getting pretty difficult.

If fans are looking to hear more information about Cyberpunk 2077, the second Night City Wire stream offered in-depth looks at various elements of gameplay. The stream gave fans information about new weapon types and the lifepath system that will heavily influence the protagonist, V. Needless to say, fans have plenty to look forward to this November.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release November 19th, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with a PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X version planned for the future.
