Cyberpunk 2077 came out in September of 2020. At launch, the game was panned by most players because of its innumerable glitches, performance issues on last-gen consoles, bugs that are so awful that they literally break the game, and the handful of promised features the game was unable to fulfill.

As the months have gone by, CD Projekt Red has issued a couple of patches to remedy the game's problems, but it is apparent that they still have a long way to go. To this day, the game is still somewhat problematic. There are still a couple of fixes the game needs in order for it to really ascend to its potential.

10 Change Appearance Features Post Creation

For a game that highlights superficiality, body modification, and over-abundance, it is very uncharacteristic that Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have a feature that allows players to change their appearance post character creation. A lot of fans are disappointed that even getting a haircut is an absent feature in this game.

This feature may seem very minor, but to an open-world RPG, something as trivial as changing one's hair is very effective in adding immersion.

9 Map When Driving

The game's navigation system, especially when inside a vehicle, is one of the game's most glaring flaws. The least the game could do is to make the map more prominent whenever the player is driving.

Better yet, they could implement some form of navigation system that has been utilized in other games such as Watch Dogs. This system won't only make the gameplay better, but it will also make sense in the world of the game.

8 Weather Effects

It's raining in Night City

The weather mechanics in Cyberpunk 2077 is very... underwhelming. Prior to release, a decent weather generation was one of the things that were promised to the players while the game was being marketed. Unfortunately, this was never integrated into the final cut of the game.

With the latest patch, a lot of players have noticed a shift in Night City's weather forecast. Particularly, players have noted that it's started raining more. While this can make Night City more atmospheric, especially during nighttime, the game's weather generation as a whole is far from comprehensive. This is something the game needs for it to be more immersive.

7 Vehicle Physics

CD Projekt Red has done a couple of fixes to make the game's vehicle physics better, but alas, it is still not as smooth as most players expect. This is particularly awful for PC players.

While a lot of them have turned to mods and personal tweaks to the game's file in order to make the experience better, the game itself should have been considerate about this in the first place.

6 Third-Person Perspective Option

Cyberpunk 2077 Bloody Ritual

Cyberpunk 2077 is has a first-person perspective. There is objectively nothing wrong with that and third-person games aren't necessarily better than first-person games. However, taking the game's mechanics, world, story, and gameplay into consideration, it is evident that a third-person perspective can benefit this game immensely.

One of the main reasons why a third-person perspective will work so well in Cyberpunk 2077 is the level of customization. The players are able to add cyberwares and choose from a myriad of clothing sets that it's a shame one can rarely see them in their full glory.

5 Untie Stats From Clothing

A lot of times, players wear certain clothing pieces in Cyberpunk 2077 mainly for the design. They look good, even though the players can rarely see them because of the game's first-person perspective. However, to fully combat the most difficult obstacles and missions in the game, one must also always consider the stats that come with each clothing piece.

Unfortunately, a ton of the best-looking clothing pieces in Cyberpunk 2077 also have measly stats. The gameplay will be so much better if Cyberpunk implements transmogrification, or transmog, for short. This means a player is allowed to change the appearance of an armor piece or clothing without compromising the stats.

4 Civilian AI

The civilians in Night City, despite the latest patches, are still very much dead or artificial. They don't feel genuine at all. Many players may not notice this, but those who pour hours upon hours of gameplay into it will easily start to realize this aspect. The AI of the civilians in the game is drab.

This is yet another unfulfilled promise the game made before launch. However, there's still time to fix it. If this aspect of the game were to be fixed and made better, it will make the game as a whole so much more mesmerizing.

3 Street Cred Potential

The Street Cred mechanic of Cyberpunk 2077 has a lot of potential. However, it ultimately is nothing more than just a second experience bar the players must fill in order to get more perks. The game could have made this mechanic so much better by making it more consequential to the game as a whole.

Judging by the name of this system alone, "street cred" should have had more impact on the game's environment. If V has a higher street cred, nothing changes for him save for the availability of jobs, among others. This mechanic should have meant more, like affecting how civilians, cops, and gangsters treat V, how much things cost, how the side characters react to him. This is not a far-fetched mechanic because a ton of games has already done it in the past, games that came out years ago.

2 Safehouses

Those who have played a GTA game know how awesome it is to be able to purchase and own a safehouse in-game. It feels real, somehow. It connects the player to the character they're playing. If Cyberpunk 2077 were to add this feature, it will make the game so much more fun to explore.

This will also incentivize gathering tons and tons of eurodollars in the game. In other words, it will make the players want to be richer in the game, which is one of V's initial motivations in becoming a mercenary.

1 Overall Performance

Cyberpunk 2077 Bugs Glitches

The game can add a ton of impressive fixes and mechanics, but if the performance of the game as a whole is still faulty, then all of it is still broken. The most important aspect the developers should fix in the game is the overall performance, across the board.

PC players and current-gen console users have it easier compared to those who are playing on a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One, but that doesn't mean issues are non-existent for the former, it's just more apparent for the latter. The game's performance should first be fixed on all platforms before this game can truly be the groundbreaking game that it can be. It will take time, but there are those who are willing to wait.
