Despite its rather abysmal performance issues, Cyberpunk 2077 has still managed to find a prominent place on the internet. With several memes surfacing online both in support of the game and poking fun at the game's expense, Cyberpunk 2077along with many of its promotional and in-game material have been used for comedic effect online. Although, this most recent one is certainly unique, even by the standards of Cyberpunk 2077 memes.

Before and after the game's launch, a lot of hilarious memes have come out of Cyberpunk 2077. From memes that are derived from specific in-game quests, to references to certain Night City inhabitants, to the various iconic pieces of flashy promotional material that were shown before the game's launch, there's a certain quality to Cyberpunk 2077 memes that make them instantly recognizable. Even if the content shown has absolutely nothing to do with the actual game and it instead references one of the most infamous video game movies ever created.

One talented Twitter user by the name of Mangerive posted a video that showcased footage from the live action Super Mario Bros. movie with music and voiceover from Cyberpunk 2077 playing over the top of it. The end result is hilarious, and fits surprisingly well with the tone of the movie, all things considered. Upon reflection, there are actually a number of similarities between the two.

Well before the CGI Super Mario Movie was announced for 2022, there existed the live action Super Mario Bros. movie that came out that came out in 1993, starring Bob Hoskins and John Leguizamo as Mario and Luigi, respectively. This movie is arguably one of the worst video game movies ever made, and yet, the movie footage matches perfectly with the music and voiceover from the very first Cyberpunk 2077 trailer.

Given the poor reception the game has received so far, with Cyberpunk 2077 already available at half price, it's possible that this meme is also drawing a comparison between the quality of the film versus the quality of Cyberpunk 2077. Admittedly, as it stands right now, Cyberpunk 2077 is a rather poorly optimized game at the moment.

However, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for this game. With an official roadmap of updates released for Cyberpunk 2077, giving fans of the game at least a general idea of when the game will be more accessible and optimized, a lot of fans are hopeful for what's to come. Only time will tell if CD Projekt Red will manage to maintain its momentum in terms of fixing everything that currently plagues this game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions currently in development.
